NBA: ***Official NBA Draft and Offseason Thread***

Yeah, but do you think there's any truth to that rumor? It seems off to me that Ainge would sit on all those assets this long only to cash them in for what might just be a one year rental of PG. That's an all-in move. Seems like he'd want something more concrete if he's been this patient up til now.

I do. At some point you have to trust your organization and that if you can get George in there and surround him with quality players, that you can get him to commit to a long term. Boston will have a pretty ridiculous wing rotation if they could pull this off, George and Heyward with two top five picks backing them up.

Chris Paul seems like a good PG to matchup w/ Harden. Idk if this helps them overtake the Warriors though.

I wouldn't even know where to start with fixing that mess, other than do not bring back Derrick Rose under any circumstances. I guess I'd look to either buy out Carmelo or get a list of teams he'd approve a trade to and take 50 cents on the dollar or less just to get him out of town for some prospects/and or picks. I just don't know what his trade value is anymore. I like him as the third or fourth option or as an instant offense guy off the bench for a contender, but who knows if he'd buy into that role? They have Porzingis and a couple decent prospects on the roster, so maybe the smart play is to let the young guys get out and run in an offense like Hornacek ran in Phoenix and try to build off that and another lottery pick next summer.

Is there any kind of trade market at all for him? He's not only got a huge contract, but he's got a trade kicker that makes it even more expensive for whoever gets him. All the teams with the cap room to take him are rebuilding teams that wouldn't really make sense for him and he's not really known as a great locker room guy.

It seems like a weird fit to me. D'Anotoni basically turned the offense over to Harden this year and let him just dominate the ball, and it worked pretty damn well. Now they are going to move him back off the ball more.

That's a good point. I guess I was just thinking that Chris Paul isn't necessarily thought of as a score first PG and Harden obviously wants a lot of shots.

Less upside on those two, but yeah there's a pretty decent chance that LaVine and Dunn are never as good as Williams and Beverly are.

Plus it clears some cap space for the Clips. If Lebron is serious about going to LA after the 2018 season, then the Clippers have put themselves in the conversation depending on what they do with Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan.

There seemed to be a lot of chatter that Blake was tired of playing with Paul too, so this might help their chances of resigning him if they choose to go that route too.

I wonder if Hayward is on board with signing a long term deal without knowing if PG will be around for more than one season. I don't know, it would be a good lineup but good enough to overtake the Cavs? It's arguable. It depends on what the Celtics would have to part with to get Paul George. If they can get away with giving up the Nets pick in 2018 plus Crowder then it's a good deal for them. But I think the Pacers would want more than that.

Yeah, I think they took him to keep him away from San Antonio.

It'll take Paul about 2 games to be sick of playing with Harden.

Kind of a big if there, though. With Griffin's injury history I wouldn't blame the Clips if they let someone else roll the dice on a long term deal. And if they're not bringing back Griffin, then Jordan can't be too far behind while he still has some trade value.

Jerry West has gone right to work on that roster. Doc must be shitting a brick.

If he ends up with Bron and Westbrook he won't be.

No way LBJ goes there now IMO, he has always wanted to play with Paul and Carmelo, that's been known for years. I could see Blake staying as he would be more "the man" there now, assuming he can stay on the court. And let us not overlook how much better Paul made DeAndre, I think you'll see him back in Texas where he's from or with a relative contender.

Can't wait for July 1st to get here. Hoping the Celtics will make a splash in free agency again this year. Griffin to add a little more muscle inside as the Celts need some help in board department, would be nice to see. Don't know why they would go after Hayward though unless Ainge is going get rid of some of the shooting forwards he has accumulated over the past couple of years. I really don't see them keeping Amir around either.

If they Celts get Hayward or Griffin and trade for PG13 they would be stacked next year. Especially if they somehow keep Tatum or Brown.

That's probably the sticking point in any PG to Boston trade scenario. I think the Pacers are going to want one of those two, and I don't think Ainge is prepared to part with either.
