Official ISU/Wisc-Milwaukee Game Thread

Yes, our FT shooting was awful. If we don't improve, we will lose a lot of games this year bc of missed free throws.

Could we just for one night, after we have won 3 games in a row, please talk about positives.....

Gheeez....

We are ISU fans, we should really celebrate wins when we get them......

Go Cyclones....!

I was at the game (been to all 3) and this team just looks different with the ball in their hands. Guards command so much more presence its not funny. Their guards were really quick and we did not turn the ball over.

People will gasp at times when they see us launch 3s, but need to realize that with this team it is ok. Rahshon Clark was a great player, but lacked offense. This years team usually has 5 guys on the floor that can and should take open shots.

JVB is more athletic than I imagined. Goes to the boards hard and has a good ability to block shots.

Wes E (although did not suit tonight) is 10x quicker than I imagined. Great quick release and can put the ball on the floor effectively.

Buckley looks like DG last year. Solid and does offer a capable ball handler.

Lucca is very talented. Still hampered by his knee. Great ball skills and a great shot. We have only seen the tip of the iceberg with his talent.

Justin Hamilton is big. A freshman and plays like it. Ok hands. Smaller posts have a tough time backing him down with his size. Will be more effective when he does better cleaning up bunny shots.

Mann has barely played. IMO a CJ type player, but with D being his presence vs offense.

Craig is nasty on the block. Will be unstoppable if the outside shot falls occasionally. Much stronger on the block demanding the ball this year. Made several and 1s which could show that he is quite stronger. Not rebounding exceptionally well.

AT is tough and is really bothered by his ankle. Shows that he still can hit the 16' jumper.

BP looks more confident with the rock in his hands. Has yet to dribble wildly into a corner to pick up the ball. Nice stroke on his J that we saw at times last year. Playing like he is 6'6 on the boards. Does good getting CB the ball in good position.

DG looks like a different guy with the ball. Confident. Strong with the ball in his hands. Still pretty small, but gets bounced around on D a lot less. Making great decisions. Showed his ability to make a clutch shot on Friday.

SH is playing like he did at the end of the year. Plays hard on D and shooting fairly well. Thank god the 0-26 deal is over.

I liked Lucca's play, and if he is not playing 100% yet, he is going to be very special indeed.

The one stat that jumped out to me this game was DG with 2 blocked shots. Little Diante getting to blocks is kind of funny....to me anyway.

Petey has the best rebounding instincts on the team. It's too bad he is our shortest player.

Little DG is 6'4. While not muscular he is quick and stays in front of his man going down the lane. Thats how he blocked shots tonight.

I know how he did it, but it is just unusual for a guard to have a couple blocks. I find it entertaining.

Did anyone else put a little smile on when Lucca was hitting 3s. Glad his shot started to fall. I hope this team can keep this up. Poor shooting, lack of assists, and TOs has held this team back in the past, glad to see huge improvemnts in these areas. The rebounding does bug me some. Goes to show what adding good shooters can do to open things up and get shots for guys that are ok shooters.

BTW, I like what I see out of Hamilton. Even more if he can become a scorer. I thought he knew where to be on the floor, and his positioning looked decent.

I hope they are working with DG on some post moves. Against a man-to-man we could really create some matchup problems spreading the floor and having him post up a smaller guard.

I didn't get a chance to watch the game, but look forward to seeing the replay on Clonezone.

I have not seen the board this bubbly in a long time. Must have been impressive as even the negative Nelly's are bouncing off the walls.

Great to hear we hit 3's even without Wes playing. If we can continue to do this, it will open up the middle for us.

The last time I remember our team being able to can 3's consistently with multiple players was when Mr. Horton and Mr. Nurse were in town. Let's hope we can bottle some of that magic again!

That was a fun game. Seeing Diante (and multiple others) rain threes was a blast!

One side of Cyclone Alley tried to get the "Three...Lucca" chant going, but it wasn't working. Given time, that'll sound really good.

I'm impressed that we looked so good without Wes, and comforted that Coach doesn't believe him to have been poisoned by Lucca Legend:yes:

An athletic '3' like Gilstrap will be just what the Dr. ordered next year. It's what we are missing. A big strong '4' wouldn't bother me either but we could use a R. Clark type out there.

I listened to the game on the radio. The thing I was most pleased with is it sounds like we were actually pushing the ball this year. Secondly, the play by play was having a hard time keeping up with all of the passing taking place. Sounds like we were movig the ball around well - inside-out, around the top, and even a few reverses. I loved listening to it.

Like others, I was concerned with the numbers of 3's that were fired up right away - but wow - we made them. Worked for Drake last year. If you can make them and have an open shot, fire away.

We did take and make allot of threes. However, making that many threes was not just a product of 'luck'. We ran good sets and passed well out of the double to end up with great looks. I don't remember really one forced 3 we had. Nearly all of them were wide open shots.
