Felt this needed a special place. Losing to Chicago leaves a mile wide void in my soul that never heals. Coping advice would be nice, friends.

there are like 98 more games to beat them this year.

Yeah I don't get it. The Cards will do well enough against everyone else not named Chicago to win the Central again. Meanwhile the Cubs will go back to losing to everyone and finish in 4th again. I'd like to not suck dirt against the Cubs, but I take solace knowing which team will still be playing in October.

You Cards fans are so much like Hawks it cracks me up.

This is word for word what hawk fans say about losing to ISU.

I'm a Cubs fan but I get the same enjoyment from the media constantly declaring the New York Knicks are going to be good when they are consistently among the worst teams in the NBA almost every year for nearly two decades now. Probably among the worst franchises in all of sports when you consider they sign pretty much any free agent they try for and still suck.

I get how it could be annoying that such a bad franchise (Cubs, Knicks) gets so much media attention. At least the Yankees/Red Sox or Patriots media orgasm is usually about a contending team.

As a Cards fan, I guess I'm one of the few that can definitely see this viewpoint.

To me, the difference is in baseball, both teams play multiple games against each other every year. And even if the Cubs take the majority of the games, there's much less sting in losing 60% of the series as opposed to 100%.

However, I also think Cubs fans do have to realize that the Cards typically back it up much better than the Hawks do, for comparison's sake.

Yup. I love the rivalry. I think most Card fans are just like Hawk fans and think their **** doesn't stink. But Card fans back it up much better.

That being said, I'm amazed at the freak out both Cub and Cardinal fans have losing to each other. I freak out, but my freak outs are because I can't believe how little league-esque the Cubs look at times, not because it's the Cardinals they're losing to.

I highly doubt either team has swept the other during the season.

Finally, I would just like to say, I hate the Cardinals.

Also...

I never see Cub fans say "Cards just play their best against the Cubs," but Card fans say it all the time.

Why the ****, in Major League Baseball, would the players give that much of a **** about beating one team over another?

I understand NBA...you only see a team 4 times. I definitely understand NFL. But I can assure Card fans that the Cub players are giving just as much energy to beat the Pirates, Brewers, and Reds as they are the Cardinals. Why?
