**OFFICIAL I HATE THE CHICAGO CUBS THREAD**

I don't hate Cubs fans. In fact, if you are a Cyclone fan that roots for the Cubs, then you are alright in my book. I can't stand it when you stereotype me because I am a Cardinal fan. I am nothing like a KU or Iowa fan. Nothing. It is insulting to compare ANY Cyclone fan to a Hawkeye or a Jayhawk regardless of any other team that they root for. We are Cyclones first. The pro teams we root for don't change that and don't change who we are.

Do I hate the Cubs? No
Do I find the last few seasons humorous? Yes
Do I hate Cubs fans? Not really
Am I interested to see how they do the next few years? Absolutely

If Kris Bryant has a good first two years, the Cubs will be giving him a 10 year contract and this 2 week thing will be moot.

Boras clients don't sign long term deals early, hopefully Bryant is good enough to get a record breaking deal in 2021.

Pretty sure I heard one of the announcers today say that Jose Abreu was the only rookie last year to start the season with their major league squad. I knew it was common to leave guys down to start the year for that extra year of control but apparently it's almost a guarantee. Makes sense and I'm happy the Cubs are going that route.

And Abreu's contract, like Soler's, is for a certain number of years regardless if he is in the majors or minors so there is no concern about service time.

No I was implying they actually would be smart but it'd be horrible for the player who earned a spot on the opening day roster who would have had a guaranteed contract by then.

I got ya now sorry for assuming. One thing we can all agree on is that nobody wants to see that happen to Bryant. Wouldn't that just be the luck of the Cubs though?

I'm sure that is very insulting. Probably makes you feel the way I feel when people talk like being a Cubs fan is just a fad because they're the lovable losers.

My Great Grandpa was born is 1911. He was a die hard Cubs fan. He is why I am a die hard cubs fan. I am not a fan of the lovable losers, I am a fan of the Cubs. I know the history. I know why things are they way they are.

I am bringing a billy goat to a game this summer. #Cubs2015

I really hope people understand the intention of this thread was incredibly facetious. Have some fun with it. Its April baseball.

Nothing but respect in my book for the handful of Cyclones/Cubs/Vikings fans that I know. How they can deal with year-round disappointment on a constant basis is beyond me. Hoiball has made things better though.

The Cubs could sign him to a ten year contract at the end of this year. It's bad business in my opinion. But everything the Cubs have done is completely with in their right as an organization and more power to them.

A career ending injury in about 500 days would make the Cubs look brilliant wouldn't it?

Except Boras would never let him sign a 10 year contract, and the Cubs know that. All things considered, the Cubs are absolutely doing the best thing.

A real fan is someone who sticks with their team through the hard times, not someone who stays during the good times. Cubs fans are some of the best in baseball. Similarly, Cardinal fans still had very high attendance numbers during the 90's when they were winning. Both have very, very good fan bases. I know that rivals like to talk crap to the other team. I have done it myself, but calling a fellow Cyclone fan a "Hawk" goes way too far.

My great grandpa was a die-hard Cardinals fan. My grandparents were die-hard Cardinals fans. My Mom & Dad are die-hard Cardinals fans. Cardinals were my first true sports love. It wasn't until I became a Cyclone that a team could surpass them as my favorite.

These St Louis fans act like the city is going to lose the Rams or something. Oh....wait....

St. Louis is the quintessential baseball town in America. What I mean by that is it's probably the only one with both MLB and NFL teams that cares more about the baseball one. Losing the Rams won't matter. They'll still have the Blues in STL anyway.

Well my Rockies are off to a 3-0 start. Up next 3 game home series against the Cubs. Sorry Cubsy, Bret and Erik, but The CUBS MUST BE DESTROYED!

.....and that's why STL isn't an NFL city

Hating the Cubs is like hating Iowa State football. They don't win yet the haters still hate? Is it because the Cubs have a passionate fan base that care and want them to do well (even though they don't)? I don't get it.

This coming from a die-hard Cubs fan.

I dislike the Cubs, always have. Go White Sox. (Boy our pitching blows yet again. Hopefully the guys can get it going in a very tough division this year.)
