***Official FIFA World Cup 2018 Thread***

So after goals scored is it, like the weird yellow card/red card point system they were talking about?
Basically yeah, apparently Senegal is the first team to be eliminated from the world cup because of the fair play tiebreaker. They had 6 yellow cards to Japan's 4.

That is so ******. I guess it's slightly less arbitrary than drawing lots.

Was there no seeding ramifications or did they just not care?
They were both in with no worries, whoever won would be first in the group, but there has been discussion on whether it would be better to be in the second position because you would be playing what they thought was either Senegal or Japan, I believe.

I doubt that played into the way they played, and it was more just resting. Because Colombia ended up winning group H anyway.

France has dominated the first half. Argentina needs to get an actual #9 in the game, hopefully Aguero. Messi as a false 9 isn't working because both Pavon and Di Maria want to stay wide and attack off the dribble. Nobody is occupying the center backs when Messi drops. The Di Maria goal was fantastic, but frankly pretty fortunate for Argentina.

Terrible recognition for France on that goal. Di Maria had all the time in the world. Great strike though. Goalie had no chance.

Argentina up 2-1 off of a redirected Messi shot. This could now be a fun second half with France opening up to go get an equalizer.
