*** Official DePaul vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

I'm giving no fault to ISU.
DePaul never should have made the trip unless things were under control. Therefore, this cancellation should have come on Friday or Saturday.
No fault to ISU. Maybe a recommendation to "ask stronger," but I don't even know what that would mean other than to use words like "Don't waste our time. Are you good to go or not?" Words like that don't really go very far, of course.

Basically, DePaul dropped the ball and never should have made the trip. They clearly have some work to do.

I guess i'd be curious what the protocols are for basketball- what time did they get to ames, were they tested before they left or were they given tests here and cancelled once they got results?

So much for my once in a lifetime dream game. Could have ******* said something before we got to Ames.

Things are going to get worse with cancellations. It will be really interesting to see how this season shakes out. Some teams may play around 30 games. Some half that.

Yes gonna be a season in constant flux. Maybe they (all schools and media) can think outside the box when cancellations occur? Could there be alternative games lined up on short notice? Next day or so?

The Baylor / Gonzaga game was also cancelled pretty close to tip. Ar ethere different rules for basketball where tests need to come back the day of? Football we seem to hear about this days ahead of time. Or do the teams test once they get to the game site?

I don't see how mainly due to COVID.

Not sure what the rules are this year, but in normal years the visiting team is required to arrive 1 day prior to the game.

I assume they have to reimburse the fans their ticket, but why not have an intrasquad scrimmage and let the fans who were already coming attend for free? Surely Prohm's guys need the practice any way.

For basketball or just football? Was thinking several times that the basketball team left the day of for close games.

I feel stood up and all I had to do was move from my office to living room -wtf.

Was DePaul even in town? Did they go get wild at Sips last night?

I feel like that close to tip has to be a forfeit, not cancellation.
I don't know. Maybe they thought they were good to go, and got some results back saying otherwise around 4? I wouldn't want to punish a team for doing the right thing.

I think the CoVid test results generally take a couple of days, 2-3? based on what we were seeing with football this year.

Here is an article from 9/20: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/coronavirus-covid-19-test-results-how-long#what-to-know, which suggests 3-5 days for test results.

Further a quicker, but less reliable POC test, for patients in hospital: "If someone is in the hospital with suspected COVID-19, doctors will ask for a point of care (POC) test, which can deliver results within minutes. However, POC testing for COVID-19 may not detect all active infections and can deliver false negatives, making the results unreliable."

Testing is continuing to get better and faster I think. Not sure exactly how various athletic teams are tested.

I don’t want Covid to get any worse, but I would laugh inside a little if Iowa has this loaded team this year and they cancel the tournament again lol

Agreed, I just think somehow they'll figure out how to do some sort of tournament even if it's pushed back a month or two. If the season is in fact canceled with no postseason, do they just add another year of eligibility to everyone? By the time Garza is done, he'll be 25.
