***Official Bracketology Thread***

Man, how is St Mary's ranked 20th? They haven't beaten anyone with a pulse and haven't really pushed Gonzaga at all. ISU could use them getting upset in this final stretch.

I think we might be closer to the 6 seed line right now than it seems. Following it more closely this year, I've noticed the bracket makers aren't as up to date as they want you to think. An example of this would be several brackets contributing to our average seed on bracket matrix (8.06) having us still as an 11 seed. Also, some of Lunardi's puzzling moves with us last week.

I like the 6 seed that USA Today projects for us in Orlando going up against 11 seed Seton Hall and then likely #3 seed Florida. Could be tough playing the Gators so close to their home, but, hey, we won at Kansas.

Take care of Baylor and make a run in the Big 12 tournament and we could move all the way up to a 5 seed.

ISU has a lot more in its control than SMC does, at this point. Saint Mary's has only one more chance to lift its profile, and it'd have to be in the WCC tournament by beating Gonzaga (with non-helpful wins in between). Iowa State has a shot to beat Baylor, Oklahoma State and West Virginia in the regular season alone. Gaels will struggle to stay above us in seeding order, even if they don't lose another game.

Agree. That seems like a style ISU might struggle against. As 2's go in that bracket, Arizona would be tough, too, (but Zona seems more Gonzaga-ish, could be more manageable). Oregon would be the preferable among those 3, I think.

I'm not terribly impressed with Arizona. I'd rather play them than Oregon.

Maryland is one of the sorriest 6 loss teams I can recall. Their conference schedule has been pretty pathetic. Out of the top 7 teams in the B1G they will only play one team twice! ONE and that was MN, who they lost to last night at home. Man, the bottom half of the B1G is really bad this year.

Up from an average seed of 8.06 to 7.83 in the bracket matrix. That will continue to rise over the next few days as brackets get updated.

This playa moved ISU down from a 9 to a 10 seed in his update today lol. Kind of comical some of the teams he currently has ahead of ISU... Seton Hall, Arkansas, VCU, Michigan, Dayton. He describes his blog as "gopher-centric bracketology" and shockingly has Minnesota as a 5 seed right now o_O

Just mentioning this as an example of why our average seed is going to be higher than it should be. Like others have mentioned, we are safely on the 7 seed line right now and there is a case there for a 6 seed.
