***Official Bracketology Thread***

This is so funny to me. The huge meltdown after the Vanderbilt game where a good population of CF'ers are CONVINCED we are out of the tournament after such a terrible sad loss. Yet here we are after a second loss in a row and WHAT? What do you have to say now?

This a good lesson for anyone that wants to go back through all of the basketball threads post-Vandy and see who knows what they are talking about when it comes to CBB and the NCAA tourney and who has no clue.

Or that people simply don't care about if we would be in the tournament if it started today and are seeing the path to 17-13 and right on the bubble become more likely with each loss

Can I get the powerball numbers for tonight then?

I see we are now 41 in the RPI. With how crazy the last week has been (ranked teams losing to unranked) we have a great opportunity to increase our stock dramatically. We absolutely have to take care of business at home from here on out and snag a couple on the road.

Big shift in the right direction here...

Nothing guaranteed, but a 24% increase isn't nothing to sneeze at.

If we finish 11-7 in conf play its 100% we make the tourney...not possible to not make it. Just remember Texas Tech last year made tourney at 9-9...lost first game to TCU in big 12 tourney...and had an RPI of like 48..

The Texas game is really big in that regard. Really need to maintain the momentum, and getting a road sweep on this trip would be huge.

This game will show a lot IMO. The bright lights won't be on this game like the KU game. We'll be expected to win, but there won't be much hype about it, and it will be on the road in a pretty quiet arena most likely.

These are the kinds of games that we tend to not show up for this season. Burton tends to go through the motions in these games that "nobody is watching". Monte kind of does the same thing. We fall asleep and don't give full effort. The @ Iowa and @ TCU games come to mind.

Hopefully just the name "Texas" will be able to get our guys motivated.

Just took a quick look at CBS. Here are our numbers
RPI = 43
vs the RPI top 50
= 3-6
vs top 100 = 5-7
SOS Rank = 37
Non Con SOS = 131
Record away from home = 6-5

Our best two wins come on the road too. Kansas State and Oklahoma State winning really helped us as they are 2 of our top 50 wins. I probably won't have time this week to throw out a full bracket but I would guess I'd slate us in the 7-8 seed territory right now. As long as we don't have a complete collapse we should probably be in. Even if we end up on the bubble I'd think a win over Kansas would be enough to get us into the field. I don't see anyone coming in with a win like that and the lack of bad losses that we have.

If we can show up then this team has a legitimate shot to win its next 5 before a toss up game against Baylor. I think if we win our next five we are looking at a 5 or a 6 seed for the big dance. We could finish third or even second in a conference that had so many upsets yesterday to make this a wide open race. I'm back on the hype train! After winning on the road in Lawrence we are capable of winning every Big 12 game.

Very good opportunity the next few weeks to get us out of that 8-9 first round game. Get away from the second round game against a 1 seed and anything can happen.

I'm not about to predict any win streaks. The Big 12 is so strong and closely matched that I'd guess 75% of the games are going to be won by whatever team is playing better that night.

7-10 seems pretty likely now, I don't think the 1 seeds seem any better than the 2 seeds, so that will purely come down to matchups. Could still get better than a 7 seed though, winning at Kansas completely changes things.
