What league is in the worst/most difficult position in terms of future realignment (Big 12, Big 10, SEC, Pac 12, ACC)? I know it is a subject question...but try to be open-minded and honest? I always thought the ACC would go away first...but I am not sure about that anymore...

I guess this is assuming there is future realignment...

Its still the ACC, lowest paid conference and 1 marquee team in FSU. And for some reason the conference continues to be a basketball first conference.

I feel this way too...except I would have thought that UNC would have jumped to the Big 10 in that last go-around when Maryland and Rutgers jumped...the Big 10 would have killed to get UNC at that time.

Everything I have read, the whole ACC is contingent on a network, it sounds like a deal where there may be a false sense of hope that they may get one. Then reading between the lines from some reporters, there is no way the ACC gets a network, not enough marquee football.

The ACC had to force it's members to sign an insane penalty clause to leave. Maryland just left so how can you say the B12 is more vulnerable? I honestly think the B12 will sit back and wait for some unhappy conference members in opposing conferences to explore options and make a move then. Raiding any second tier teams from the former big east would do them no good at this point. IF they didn't want UL, who over there would be even close to that beneficial at this point? B12 cares about the product as much as the money. Unfortunately both TCU and WVU took a step back upon joining our conference.
B10 doesn't care about the product, just money and it shows in their complete inability to perform on the field. Urban Meyer may be the exception to that in the coming years but who knows.

. I thought I read somewhere that if it goes to four or five power conferences that teams in power conference already would be okay when realignment came about again and would get paid handsomely. Maybe I am wrong, but doubting we would be left out.

He does mention the contiguous states thing...and NO...I am not Kent Sterling. Whether or not you agree with the guy or even read him...he does post some good stuff. I just linked it because it is provoking...and yes it does re-hash some of the ideas we have discussed a lot around here. Not a homer for the Big 10 if you read his stuff and is usually very critical of the NCAA even though he is located at the heart of the organization (Indy). He writes about a lot of topics...not just college realignment. To those who only want to be exposed to ideas you think are correct...sorry I posted the link.

This guy ran the ESPN station in St Louis for awhile until some family circumstances created a situation where he needed to relocate to Indy.

You did read the editors note didnt you? He didn't even write this nor does he agree with it. Someone posted on his comments under the moniker B20 and he thought it was good bar room fodder....

[Editor's note - This was posted as a comment by someone identified as BIG20, and presents an interesting perspective on conference realignment. *What I like best is the writing style that is sort of like listening to a guy talk sports in a bar. *He argues with himself a bit, and although I don't really agree with too much, the perspective and execution is interesting enough to share.]

Lol, so two random sources. Never....going....to....happen
Sounds almost like you support the move. Would be almost football suicide for OU not to mention week after week of boring football. Playing NU, KU, Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa, Norhtwestern etc every year and switching occasional games with OSU, UM, Wisc, PSU, etc? Who the hell would want to see that? Living in Omaha, I am surrounded by husker fans and when I had them look at their future schedule when Maryland and Rutgers joined, they were not very happy. They are isolated on the west side of the conference and their schedule is a joke.

I just mean the fans don't care for the schedule of teams they play. Not to mention, at least 2 of the 3 non conference games are snoozers.

People keep mentioning AAU in relation to OU and the Big Ten..#1 Have the mistake impression that OU is far off from gaining that status, Boren has sunk millions into academic improvements with the goal to be AAU before he retires #2 Assume the Big Ten isn't interested because of lack of AAU status, when they have already done their foot work knowing OU doesnt have AAU status
It is very hard to achieve AAU status if you do not have. It will be a grind for them.

If Missouri and Nebraska wanted back in the Big12, would you take them back?[/QUOTE

Yes, but I'm old and a traditionalist. Wife and I have big extended families. We went to ISU. Two of her sisters went to Mizzou. One other sister went to Kansas.

Records never mattered. We would use the games to get together and razz each other. We really do miss those times. But hey, everything is better now...right?

I'd take MU and NU back any day. It was good for ISU and good for football to have local rivalries. When you work with alumni from those other schools - it makes it more entertaining. Never going to happen though.

College sports is about the $'s.

I'd love to take them back, but if we did I'd like to drop two schools too so that we could stay at 10. I know it's difficult, but I love the round robin format.

West Virginia + TCU or Baylor

I'd trade them for getting Nebby and Methzoo back in a heartbeat.

Texas is playing the Big12 for fools. Oliver Luck learned yesterday that UT had entered a non-disclosure agreement with the Big10 a few months back and have been hammering out details for UT to join the Big10 with another school(GT-according to what Luck was told) to make 16.

The LHN, which was once considered the biggest hurdle to overcome, would remain UT's and Espn's but BTN would also get UT content-just not as much as the other 15. UT would take a smaller share of BTN revenues(which will grow astronomically after adding GA and TX) than the other members but still stands to make over $50 million per year for all tv money(non-postseason ) according to projections from the B10.

That's all the info I have been able to obtain in regards to this matter and what I have now was obtained from eavesdropping on my sources part. Luck seemed shocked and surprised at this news but it doesn't seem to have deterred him from taking the job even though during his interview he pitched a 12 team B12 with 8 games and a CCG.

I won't pretend to understand how the big10 plans on skirting the GOR but everything I've been hearing is hinting that the answer is in the details of what the networks are actually paying for-yes, they are TV rights to a university's athletic games-but those games have a specific name and description. Failing that, the B10 has stores of cash to pay for a broken GOR or 2 if need be.

Will UT move to the Big10 and what does that mean for WVU and the rest of B12? Before anyone jumps off a bridge keep this in mind: last year the Big10 had as many as 8 of those non-disclosure agreements in place with various schools and only 2 came to fruition. But if UT were to bolt the B12...well, that changes everything.
