My thoughts:
1. Do you really think Nebraska will have ANYTHING to do with being in the same conference as Texas? Maybe Oklahoma, but if Nebby got any serious wind of letting Texas into the B1G, I can't see them letting it happen easy.
2. Iowa State will have a landing spot somewhere. Even if its being the more northern school in the SEC, they will have a landing spot. Due to ISU's academics and AAU status, it wouldn't surprise me to see ISU join Kansas State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in some sort of Midwestern pod of the PAC12.
3. GORs usually get renewed several years in advance of their expiration. If any current school in the Big 12 is stalling on that, then that will tip their hand to all the other schools.
4. I do believe that the Big 12 should expand by adding two more schools. This could happen a number of ways. It wouldn't shock me to see LSU want into the Big 12. Their fan base it becoming more and more discontent on their scheduling and otherwise favoritism towards Alabama. This is what set Nebraska over the edge in the Big 12. Now, I really doubt that happens, however if it did, it wouldn't shock me to see another team from the SEC come over with them...that team would like be Arkansas.
If the status quo is going to be kept, then I would like to see BYU and Colorado State join the Big 12. BYU is an obvious choice, and as long as Colorado State keeps up with building their facilities and doing well in both major sports, I think they would be a serious candidate. Rumblings are that the Big 12 has already had discussions with Colorado state...but nothing more serious than "where do you see yourself in 5 years" type of talks. Adding Utah and Colorado would expand the media footprint and overall footprint of the conference.
I know adding two teams out west would not be favorable to West Virginia...I hate to say it, but they knew what they were signing up for when they joined the BIG 12. Adding more Islands out east does not make any sense. Unless the Island's names are Notre Dame or Florida State.
