*** Official #3 IOWA STATE vs Arizona Game(Day) Thread ***

We would have lost in regulation then. It’s not like Arizona actually took advantage of using the inbounds pass. Love still had to drill a 3 quarter shot.
The theory would be its more rushed

I would make it and then play aggressive D. Don't let guy dribble clean into shot

Unfortunately agree with Hassel. Big 12 is down and 16-4 isn't enough without massive help

Call me crazy but I can’t get too worked up about 1 seed vs 2 seed. So much of it comes down to matchups anyway. We have a team full of absolute dogs and have all the metrics that show we are a contender. Get Milan back, stay healthy and make a run.

I'm struggling to wrap my head around those non calls in overtime. I can accept the lucky a** shot to tie the game at the end of regulation, but the blatant hacking, reaching in (defender not even attempting to move their feet) and whacking the shooter is what leaves the bad taste in my mouth. I'd rather say, "that Love guy caught fire after a 60 ft shot! He stepped it up and beat us in OT" instead I'm sitting here pissed off at lousy, inconsistent officiating.

It hurts to lose that way, but that’s basketball. Team will feel this one for sure but they’ll bounce back and get better.

We will smash that team in Hilton. And I have a feeling the crowd will be extra loud for that one.

You got those percentages handy? I’d love to see them.
Personally, I feel the foul don’t foul discussion is not the same in NBA as College.

At this level I don’t like giving points and getting the ball closer to the goal. It doesn’t feel as much of a clear call as it does in NBA.

Things happen.

the idea is to foul before the shot or do an off the ball foul.
And that's really difficult to do with 2.2 left. The refs weren't calling touch fouls. We'd have had to tackle someone off the ball for a foul to be called. You also risk giving them 3 ft's there if Love jacks it during the foul. In their end of the half court you're fouling, but I'm fine with letting them put up a prayer. They got lucky.

This loss isn't the end of the world. Houston won't run the table. We still have a shot at the Big XII Champ. And frankly, a 1 or 2 seed doesn't make much difference. Lots of basketball left. Proud of these guys for their grit in a tough environment.
