***OFFICIAL 2026 WEATHER THREAD***

That was a long night for me and my storm hating pup (and my rain hating other pups). I did get to watch the last few seconds of regulation and two overtimes for the Thunder and Spurs while waiting for the rain and lightning to let up. I kept taking the dogs out and having them stare at me while we all got wet, but when the game was finally over, I just grabbed them one at a time in order of likelihood that they'd pee quickly, and so got the two rain haters to go. My storm hating girl never did go, but luckily held it until we got up at 4:30. I'm going to sleep well tonight for sure.

West Ames, we had an inch last night and an inch the night before.

Saw lots of broken branches and a couple trees around the Somerset area this morning. Even a dangling cable from a tree just west of the RR crossing on 24th.

I live just east of grand on 24th and my gauge showed 1.3”.

We got a little over 2.5” last night in SE Polk area. We were apparently right in the line of that radar indicated tornado warning around 7:30-7:45 for Polk County. Not much happened until after the warning was lifted.

3,2 inches in pella last night. The last two rain events in Van Buren County 2.5 inches.

Skunk River near Sigourney expected to be within a foot of flood stage in the next day or so.

Since Friday I have had around 3.5" in central ia. 2 miles west of me had half as much. Saturday night a small cell built right over top of us and dumped 1.75-2.5" going east, but west of us just had a trace.

Talked to a farmer from the West Bend area. His place was beat up, trees and a couple older buildings. The worst part, they had a big cottonwood tree with a Bald Eagle nest in it. The tree was ripped out of the ground, the nest destroyed and 3 young eagles died. The DNR tried to save one of the young eagles but all of the young ones died.

that’s sad. My parents are from that general area and sent me a picture of a tornado near havelock.
