***OFFICIAL 2026 WEATHER THREAD***

2+ inches per hour in Ames for the last hour and a half and I'm guessing we are pushing 6-7 total. Scooped the driveway and walks 3 times in an hour because every time I finished there was almost another inch where I started already. Will catch the rest in the morning with the blower.

Ankeny schools are closed today, but I don't see any other central Iowa districts with closure announcements yet.

I didn't measure but we had at least the 8-10 they were calling for in Ames, maybe more. First 6" is super wet and heavy and everything else is powder from when the temp dropped. Took me 25 minutes longer than normal with the snowblower and that was after scooping before bed last night. Mornings like this make me regret buying a corner lot. Neighbor with a single stage electric blower was out before me and still working when I got done. Be careful out there this morning folks.

Yep, this one sucks. No brainer to cancel school.

I have a single stage electric ego and this is the first snow I’ve ever struggled with it. Battery died and I’ve hardly used 50% in the past.

Just brutal. I have an Ariens compact 24 and even it was struggling towards the end because of all this **** that was freezing in the augers and impeller.

I had 7.5 on my back deck in west Ames. Pretty scientific I know. Lol
