***OFFICIAL 2026 WEATHER THREAD***

When I was a kid, and it got old, dad would tell me to go water the cattle and then hand me the ax. Had to chop ice so there was enough space so cattle could stand there and drink what I ran. Old days of the heating pipe having diesel that gelled up and dad had to get a little #2 or kerosene to blend it down to get it to start a fire.
My dad (RIP) always told the story that when he was a kid one of their normal practice's was to pitch the horse manure onto a wagon, haul it near the well pit and pitch it back off each fall in a line from the well back down to the barn. This was an attempt to provide extra insulation over the hand dug waterline in the event that a cold winter would drive the frost down enough to freeze them. Many many years later the galvanized pipe started leaking so they were going to dig it up for repair and found that where they piled the manure each year was about ten feet away from the line the pipe actually followed. He said it must have worked though, cause the line never froze. :) :curse::)

We are supposed to get freezing rain and ice here in the DFW area and that will paralyze a large southern city. Their ice removal is basically warmer weather :) Just praying we don’t lose power

Up at the in-laws in Wisconsin right now. Was -30 this AM. Stepped outside when it was -22 just to see what it felt like.

It felt cold. Very cold. Colder than Kim Mulkey in Antarctica in an igloo.

I was able to give some away this morning, so feel, what, one pound lighter?
Give or take. Assuming you donated a pint of whole blood, that's roughly a pound. I'm doing double red cell which is going to affect my weight a little less.
