If it were full bore the roads would maybe clear quickly since it's getting so much higher.

@dahliaclone just heard I94 in Wi is closed 21inches of snow. If you're still in KC I'm guessing you can wander back carefully and be fine, scattered Icy patches on county roads in central iowa.

It’s supposed to be dying down up north here but it seems to be getting worse. We are ground zero for this storm.

Sounds like Kossuth County plows are making headway, blacktops only. I about made it out of my lane this morning, but the last drift is wide as hell. Last day for crop insurance sales, about out of Velo's, and the 2nd day in a row of being stuck inside with 3 kids and my wife. Anyone own a helicopter, or snow bear, that wants to come save me?

We have some of the more colossal drifts I've ever seen considering we didn't get all that much snow.

I’d be completely shocked if it’s not up to mason city. Once you get north of Mason City though it gets a lot nastier though.

We need to take I35 from KC to Owatonna then go west...given it's closed still and the winds are still gonna be 40+ gusts today in Northern IA and Southern MN we are having a hard time justifying leaving and risking getting possibly as far as Clear Lake later only to have it closed through Albert Lea and being up sh!t's creek.

We left before 5 am yesterday and it turned to snow when we fueled at the boondocks. Just south of clear lake it got better because there was less sleet to suck the vehicle around.

With all the interstates opening at 10am, seems like major passages are starting to look better. County roads will be ROUGH until tomorrow I'd think.

Just saw I-80 from DSM to Iowa City still closed. Surprised that is closed and not I-35 going north
