***Official 2026 NCAA Tournament Thread***

Michigan is the 21st #1 seed to defeat the #9 seed by 20 or more in the Round of 32.

The average number of victories following that game is 1.7

4 lost in the Sweet Sixteen
7 lost in Elite Eight
4 lost in Final Four
1 lost in the Championship Game
4 won the Championship
Most common was a loss in the elite 8.

So ISU to the final 4!!!!

Stock Market - no - I use my financial advisor for that.

I created https://hoopstournament.net/index.php and built a database of all tournament games.

So do I… But then again that’s me lol and we generally know how to build solid risk adjusted portfolio, but we have no damn clue what the market’s doing and the more someone adamantly says they do the more likely you should find a different Advisor lol

With that said impressive work on the stats and data. I love it.

Lendeborg on Michigan annoys me. Great player obviously but he's a hothead. Basically the opposite of Jefferson, demeanor-wise.

Has anyone else noticed that MSU shooters fall down on their shot attempts in an apparent attempt to draw fouls? That has happened on their last three attempts at least.

Quite frankly, I’ve got tired of it everywhere… I turn on a game & somebody’s throwing themselves to the ground. It’s freaking ridiculous so no, I haven’t really isolated one particular team. Apparently they are coached to do that nowadays. It’s absolutely horrible in the WNBA.

Dude, who the hell are you? :explode: :) Got any thoughts on the stock market ;)

In all seriousness, however, I find the difference from #9, 82-8 vs # 8, being 76-20.

I had thought 9 seeds are over 500 versus 8 seeds and that’s a fairly significant difference, isn’t it?! You would think it’d be very minimal?! Hell I don’t know maybe statistically it is very minimum but I guess I would’ve thought it would’ve been very, very similar
For information - #9 seeds are 95-93 vs #8 seeds all-time. However, there have been more #8 seeds from Power Conferences win than #9 seeds.

Of the 20 wins by #8 seeds over #1, 17 were by Power Conference teams
SEC - 5
ACC - 4
Big East - 3
Big Ten - 2
Pac 12 - 2
Big Eight - 1
A-10 - 1 (Rhode Island)
MVC - 1 (Loyola Chicago)
Horizon - 1 (Butler)

In contrast, only 2 of 8 #9 seeds that won were from a Power Conference.

Did some of my own research given who we play tomorrow. 5 teams have taken us out multiple times in tourney with Ohio State and UCLA leading at 3 a piece.
