Snow ordinance in Ames goes into effect 8 p.m. Friday.

I-80 especially in Eastern Iowa and around DM is one of the busiest highways around, throw in that we get snow and ice, that they do not get in California or much of the South and it leads to more wrecks. Weather conditions are a large part of the problem for wrecks, better weather in many of the large cities with more population and heavier road use, equals fewer wrecks.
except for that I80 goes through the Rockies and Sierra Nevadas out west around much higher populations.

I don't have my snowblower ready yet. It will probably be the real heavy stuff. Ugh.
pulled mine out plugged it in and it fired right up, not bad for a probably 10+ year old Troy-Bilt, granted it has a few other issues. but it blows.

Gassed my snowblower up a few days ago when it was warm out and let it run for 15 minutes. Should be ready to go.

A few years ago I gave my son my gas mower and bought an Ego battery mower and I love it. I was tempted to buy a battery snowblower too, but I'm not confident it can handle the heavy wet snow.

Channel 13 showing 8.6 inches Friday night into Saturday evening for metro. Would be a good solid storm.

Well poop. Saturday we are supposed to go to Farley for a wedding. SIL is supposed to fly back to Texas, and MIL is supposed to drive back to Prairie du Chien. Maybe one more day in Des Moines. On the plus side niece and nephew rarely see snow so it may be fun for them to stick around. Texas sucks anyway.
