***Official 2025 Weather Thread***

Seems me staying in the Twin Cities has bumped us from "Advisory" to Winter Storm Warning and the couple of inches of snow to 4"-6" with lot-o-wind. Maybe I should have put the snow boots on Das Audi.

WU now saying between Friday & Saturday 6 inches of snow for Des Moines. Guessing that might be a bit high but still think we will get a good amount for our first snow.
Total keeps going up, also the High Temps on Sunday & Monday:

My Apple Weather app is saying 8-10 inches for CR by Saturday night, which made me laugh because it’s often wildly inaccurate. The last NWS forecast discussion id seen before that was talking maybe 3+ inches north of I-80.

Well … Weather Underground now says 8.1 inches, and the NWS keeps hedging upwards. So … hold onto your butts, I guess? /Samuel L Jackson flips the switch/

Me and the pup headed south on I35 out of the Twin Cities to beat the snow and wind. Yesterday were told MAYBE a coating. Now it's 6-8 and winds. Better to just get to my family's lake home around St. Peter and hunker down for a few days! Be safe!

I-80 especially in Eastern Iowa and around DM is one of the busiest highways around, throw in that we get snow and ice, that they do not get in California or much of the South and it leads to more wrecks. Weather conditions are a large part of the problem for wrecks, better weather in many of the large cities with more population and heavier road use, equals fewer wrecks.
