The Cubs are something like 40-36 since June 1st. So they've been a little above average for longer than they were good. At this point this level of play is proving to be closer to their actual capabilities compared to their hot start.
In addition to that, they have the second best run differential in the majors on the year. That to me says that their record is not hollow.
