*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Lead off runner on in the 9th, Happ looks at 2 out of 3 pitches he sees, both strikes. Horrible at bat.

And, the Cubs get swept. Not a good look at this point in the season against a struggling club.

I mean, when you compare them to the brewers who are on pace to win 100 this year, then yeah- they’re meh. They still have the 6th best record in the majors this season. They aren’t chopped liver.

I think their record is a bit hollow. The Cubs are something like 40-36 since June 1st. So they've been a little above average for longer than they were good. At this point this level of play is proving to be closer to their actual capabilities compared to their hot start.

I didn’t expect much before the season started. I didn’t buy into Kyle Tucker hype. At least we will make the playoff. This team overachieved given no help from our FO.

Remember when Jed said we didn't go after pitching at the deadline because these 2 would be back?

One of them is on the taxi squad to Des Moines and the other made a total of 2 starts and is back on the DL.
So Assad is back. I still like our starter depth. And we still have Ben Brown if we need an inning eater.

Sure neither is a Gore or Ryan, but ZERO top starters moved at the deadline. So it wasn't only the Cubs who weren't willing to pay the price.

And if media reports are correct the Cubs had to give up Cade Horton to get a Gore type. I'd rather have Horton and his controllable years.
