The guy slugging .387 is batting 4th?

Things to do today
1) Cancel Marquee Network
2) Transition to football season

What exactly is it that people want? The reality is Happ has been the 3rd best hitter on the team since the all star break.

I know its cool to hate him for some reason, but there are no good options.

Literally everyone below him in the order is a better option right now.

Caissie not playing is absurd. Hit the cover off the ball a few times and just had some back luck. But sure, let's keep the rest of these yahoos that haven't put bat to ball in 6 weeks playing and in the middle of the order.

Ian Happ and Dansby are the biggest victims of the Ricketts choosing not to spend. They are both the exact players they've always been and have fair deal in the market (Happ may be a hair under market) but since the Ricketts refuse to spend like a big market club, it makes the fan base think that they're supposed to be providing superstar production for what they're paid which is in the 'very good' range and not the 'elite' range.

I think its less of a reaction to Happ himself but more of a WTF is going on here. Not being able to trust the guy that was leading the NL in RBIs for most of the season, or the breakout superstar that was just behind him, or the guy that people want to pay $400 million is the problem. Instead we have to settle for the guy making $20 mil per year that is batting .228 and slugging .387 (lol).

I definitely agree with your point on them being the biggest victims.

Obviously I'd rather Ian Happ wasn't hitting 4th but there are no good options right now and that's not Ian Happ's fault.

The Cubs have been horrible at situational hitting lately. They were a team in the first half that could explode for 5+ runs in an inning but now they have to find ways to manufacture some in key spots.

They had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and 2, 3, 4 up in the lineup in the Top of the 8th yesterday. All 3 guys struck out when the odds of scoring a run has to be 90% or higher. A Sac fly is a productive out but somehow the last 6 outs for the Cubs yesterday were strikeouts.
Lately? This has been a season long problem.
