*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

The one getting stupid production from Bryce Turang and Sal Frelick.

They're going to turn back into pumpkins.
You mean two guys that are 25 and breaking out? Sounds like two potentially really good young players.

Some posters on this board will never give any credit to the Brewers. What happen to the poster who said the Brewers are feasting on bad teams and pitchers?

Totally cruel development for Amaya. Just sucks. And to those who want to give credit to the Brewers for their play, go ahead, but don't be surprised when a Cubs thread is bitter about it.

Might have broke his leg, god what terrible luck for him. Just makes me sick.

Manufactured 2 runs there. Maybe they starting to get it.

If it's his knee, he might not be able to catch anymore. Absolutely brutal for the guy. I literally just watched him play a week and a half ago for the I-Cubs, he looked so happy to be back in action and close to getting back to the show. Now in his FIRST game back he gets seriously injured? WTH man....def sucks.

Toronto trusts Gausman.
Cubs evidently don't trust Horton.

I get they are probably being careful with his innings given his injury history but the way he was pitching tonight would have been nice to get him through 6 when he was only at 82 pitches. I'd love to see the data on arm injuries with today's innings and pitch count limits compared to when guys would throw 120-130 pitches some starts and go over 200 innings a season. Doesn't feel like there is any less arm injuries today than there were 20-30 years ago.

Poor guy already worked his way back from Tommy John in the minors, finally breaking out offensively and then a freak oblique and this. Cruel.

I was one of them although I wasn't up in arms about it either. I just questioned how long we could keep 3 until we needed to give the offense a spark with someone like Caissie or Mo
Palencia looked like a dominant closer tonight. If he improves his slider, he will be almost unhittable

Pretty sure we’re agreeing. I think Schwarber/ free agent ace is cheaper and money better spent than Tucker/ Taillon.
Why are you so set on we need to get rid of Taillon? Seems like you and maybe another person or 2 here are constantly saying over the past year or so we should trade him. I think last trade deadline they should of been sellers and I would have been good with him and some other players being traded then when he was having a good season, but they held for some reason and still failed to make the playoffs. He's not that pricey of a pitcher in today's market for what he's done as a Cub. $18 mil for basically a 3rd or 4th guy in your rotation when both Steele and Shota are healthy. ERA may not be the sexiest sometimes but has WHIP of 1.28 1.13 and 1.11 which is really solid for a middle of the rotation guy that eats up innings and can go on hot streaks at times. You aren't going to get similar production without paying that or more. Would have to see some significant additions to the rotation to chance losing him after what we've been going through in recent seasons trying to fill out a healthy rotation. Even if you dump him of cost savings you probably still would have to pick up some of the tab and not get much return for him.
