*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

He’s now struck out 7 of his last 8 ABs…that’s a bunt 100% of the time with no outs and up one. Instead, he settles for some more garbage swings. Where is the manager in those situations??
He needs to make some adjustments . Teams may have found his weaknesses

All’s well that ends well. I really felt like PCA needed to lay down a bunt there in the 7th. I get the 27 homers but he’s struggling and there’s always a decent chance he beats it out. If he doesn’t then moving those guys over is just massive considering the way the game was going. I get that he showed bunt a couple of times but he wasn’t totally committed to the task.

I did some more digging on Shota pitching on 5 days rest vs. 6+ days rest this season. The difference is pretty staggering. I believe in Japan, starting pitchers only pitch once a week.

5 days rest: 44 IP, 23 ER, 4.71 ERA
6+ days rest: 39 IP, 7 ER, 1.62 ERA

I know injuries have likely required Shota to start more often than the club would like, but I don't see how you can ignore these numbers...

PCA getting the day off. Castro playing CF. Turner also in for Busch at 1B.

Stroman was bad last year as well with the Yankees. Stroman is not an upgrade over the Cubs current staff and that's not even bringing Taillon or Assad into the equation.
10-9 with 4.3 Era. Not great but serviceable. I'm on fence. He's done better since he came back in late June but not significantly. Probably can't afford to wait but would like to see how soroka does and tallison/assad progress.
