*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

First sweep since the Rockies series in late May I think. Their strategy of trying 15 relievers just to find 3 serviceable ones seems to have worked itself out.

I'm pretty sure this was noted earlier in the thread, but McGuire has no options available. He'd have to clear waivers first, and if he clears waivers he can reject an outright assignment to Iowa and elect free agency instead. I think his contract is guaranteed so he'd continue to receive his major league salary no matter what.

Flexen is 5-0 with a 0.62 ERA. That's crazy.
And Pomeranz with an ERA of 0

Matt Shaw. Game winning RBI. That's all.
Was at the game. Tons of fun. Still don't understand pca was called out on the play at first. Everything shown in stadium indicates he was safe. This team seems to be playing for eo-which is cool.

Wicks has been spotted at Wrigley.

Does he start and Rae back to the bullpen or is he the quick bullpen arm of Rae/Taillon have an early meltdown?

Early speculation is Horton getting a couple weeks off

Might be pretty close offensively between the two teams. Don't think this team has a Lester or Arrieta type which won't matter until October, when it'll really matter.
Cubs run differential on July 4, 2016 was +155 (433-278). Today it's +109 (463-355). 5 less games played at this point of the season in 2016.

Wicks has been dynamite. They backed off the velocity and he's back down to 92-93 on the fastball and that makes that change play up because of the arm speed.

I assume he's going to start to give Horton and Boyd some longer rest. Assume it has to be Hodge going down for a bit because everybody else is pitching too well unless you're flat shutting Horton down until August 1.

Wasn’t 100% clear PCA touched first base. Looked like it but a couple of angles made it look unclear so stuck with the call on the field. Not egregious or anything.
