***Official 2024 Weather Thread***

The recent cool down reminds us that fall is on it's way and the speculation of another warm stretch affords us an opportunity to wrap up those tasks we wanted to accomplish (procrastinated on) before winter sets in. Although early, a few combines have been nosing into fields across the state. It always seems to help when a rain or two helps knock the remaining leaves off of the soybeans but nobody looks forward to harvest in wet conditions. The later varieties may benefit from extra kernel/pod fill with the projected temps and moisture if the heat doesn't shut the plants down. Sans the rain, construction workers will enjoy the extension of good weather to complete major projects ahead of the first snow. Seems like a lot of time left but football season is underway and seems to fly by and last year's K State game is an example of how fast things can change. We can't change the weather and we go through this every year so here's to everybody taking advantage of the good days ahead.

Mid 80s doesn’t feel like heat to me, especially when it takes til almost noon to get to 80.

Are you working out in it all day? Because that might change your opinion.

I’m ready for a frost to kill this stupid crop.
