Last year we had corn shredded a week or two before combined started rolling. Hurt a little but not a huge amount.And in the fall of 1980, we got hail just as soybeans were ready to harvest. Mine were green enough because they were planted late so I didn’t have much damage. Some fields were a total loss.

Except for some severe storms, the month of May was absolutely awesome for Iowa with its moderate temperatures and drought busting precipitation.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid it will soon be time to brace ourselves for the inevitable hot and dry conditions that the next few months are gonna bring.
I miss May already.
We were fishing in northern Minnesota last week. The mosquitoes are very healthy.If my walkabout in the woods early evening yesterday to photographing owls is an indicator, I am bracing for a bumper crop of mosquitoes. Last couple of drought years did keep the state bird a bit under control.

Looks like I may have spoken to soon. I saw the 90 degree highs in the forecast and figured we're already heading into the hot dry furnace part of the summer. I welcome the additional precip.
