Last year we had corn shredded a week or two before combined started rolling. Hurt a little but not a huge amount.
That would really suck to be ready for harvest, then have something happen to it.

Hey, great news! I’m in an outdoor Shakespeare production that opens Friday and runs through the end of June! We all just looooove being soaked with sweat in our woolen costumes for the performances. So great.

Julius Caesar, free outdoor Shakespeare at City Park in Iowa City. June 14-30.
We’ve had absolutely awesome weather for rehearsals (even tonight is a little cool for some folks) but it’s not outdoor theatre in the summer without a few 90-degree afternoons.
Except for some severe storms, the month of May was absolutely awesome for Iowa with its moderate temperatures and drought busting precipitation.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid it will soon be time to brace ourselves for the inevitable hot and dry conditions that the next few months are gonna bring.
I miss May already.

Damn, Mississippi is not feeling the weather gods love.
If my walkabout in the woods early evening yesterday to photographing owls is an indicator, I am bracing for a bumper crop of mosquitoes. Last couple of drought years did keep the state bird a bit under control.
We were fishing in northern Minnesota last week. The mosquitoes are very healthy.
I see some action on the Day 4 and Day 5 CO for the upper Midwest with NW IA bulls-eyed on Day 4 and pretty much the whole state bulls-eyed on Day 5.
Looks like I may have spoken to soon. I saw the 90 degree highs in the forecast and figured we're already heading into the hot dry furnace part of the summer. I welcome the additional precip. Could do without the severe winds and hail, though.
Kinda surprised me that dust clouds could kick up literally one day after pretty substantial rains. Hopefully not, but it seems we could be back in drought pretty quickly if the weather pattern reverts back to the one we have had the last few years.
