Gorilla-sized hail sounds pretty dangerous ..
Dimensional descriptions of hail is good enough, making up terms is silly, read and learned it was credited to Reed Timmer, not surprised.

Just spitballing, but it probably has to do with definitive cancelation of school-related evening activities and the avoidance of liability there. It’s really funny to me to see the schools that let out early when the storms were forecasted after 5 pm for the central Iowa area.
I think we should go with a Starbucks size rating system:Dimensional descriptions of hail is good enough, making up terms is silly, read and learned it was credited to Reed Timmer, not surprised.
Looks like it’s going to miss Ames. Our company did a ton of work there last year, my hometown, but for the people that have already been through this I don’t hope for it again.Judging by the hail core headed towards Ames, it's probably a good thing I haven't had my house fixed from last March yet..
Just starting to come down now. Pea to dime size.Looks like it’s going to miss Ames. Our company did a ton of work there last year, my hometown, but for the people that have already been through this I don’t hope for it again.

Where at? We got just a little bit of not even pea size.Just starting to come down now. Pea to dime size.
Hailed for about 5 minutes. Came down pretty good for a few but nothing to cause substantial damage. Probably took some sand off new shingles
We’re west Ames, north of Lincoln Way and got the same for hail. Still raining, but the downpour left about 0.7 in. Tiny hail remaining in the grass, too. Temp dropped about 4 degrees.Where at? We got just a little bit of not even pea size.

Over here in Bloomfield we had the sirens going off, checking out KCCI they were talking inch sized hail approaching and 70 to 80 mile winds. Storm gets here, a little bit of hail, nothing that did any damage, just poured for about 5 to 10 minutes, little to no wind. Great sitting out on the front porch and watching the lightning storm.Anyone around Rathbun lake, a tornado has been confirmed on the ground nearby.
