No.

Just a term that differentiates between a confirmed funnel on the ground and one that’s extremely possible.

Have NWS issue a separate Tornado Confirmation. Warning means what it does now, Confirmation means what warning did 20 years ago.
Well, each tornado warning currently includes verbiage whether the tornado is radar indicated vs confirmed. If you are in a warned area, just open the weather notification to find out which one it is.
They also have a tornado emergency where a confirmed large tornado is about to hit a town. Not sure what else the NWS can do

Pretty sure we had radar-based warnings 20 years ago. It feels like you're mixing discussion with that and the wind-based warnings we've seen more recently

But you just seem to have a fundamental lack of understanding about what watch/and warnings are supposed to be. They are directives to the public.

Watch= "keep an eye out for this hazard today, especially if you're going to be outside"

Warning= "bad **** is likely happening nearby, take shelter".

That's all it is. And spotter-reported or not, you should be taking shelter if a warning is issued. If you really want more info you can pull up more descriptive data, preferably once you're somewhere safe.

I mean ****, most of the time most people in a warned tornado area aren't going to be hit either. But they should still be seeking shelter. Your "cried wolf" logic would say that we might as well not do warnings at all because most people won't get hit by one and will feel like someone cried wolf.

The other part about this argument that never makes any sense, is even if you quit warning radar indicated storms, and only warned storms with tornadoes on the ground, it's still likely that you personally won't be hit by the tornado that your warning triggered.

So the people bent out of shape about having been in a radar warning will just be in a different warning they're still probably ignoring anyway, and will still be apparently bent out of shape that their street wasn't rearranged.

And then it will be only warn ones that are causing damage and on and on.

They had a tornado warning for Hazleton this afternoon where we live when there clearly was not one. If there was an actual tornado our response would have absolutely been different.
You do realize that if you if there is rotation in the atmosphere, it can drop down, destroy your house and kill you in a matter of seconds.

People are starting to see it as crying wolf. That’s a problem. A distinction alleviates that.

You might be right, but you aren’t taking real basic human nature into account.
Adding a distinction like that implies that a person's response should be different. IT SHOULD NOT!!!!!

Or, we just keep it as it is and let you decide your personal response.

Boy this is going to be a tight squeeze if it holds together. Think it slides barely west. Probably safe if I'd put all my sprouted milk jugs in the garage but husband said they were fine outside.
