No talk on tonight's snow yet? Wunderground saying just over an inch. DOT was salting the **** out of intersections today, must have a ton of liquid left to use for the year.

1 " of snow expected and brining the road like 2" of ice? And they wonder why the roads turn to crap so soon.
My wife mentioned that they brined the roads yesterday, but MAN this morning it felt like the crews were woefully underprepared for this. Very slow going out there, and at least in Waukee, a lot more than 1"

I'm on the western side of the metro, we're closer to 3 inches of snow than 2 inches of snow. Slick underneath and my kids said the high school parking lot is a debacle.

Just shoveled a few inches off my driveway in Ankeny. It will be nice to watch it melt into my lawn. I know it won't make a huge difference, but every little bit helps.

Here in the Des Moines area when they have a surplus, about this time of year they start dumping the excess on the freeway and I have seen where there is so much that when it dries........the dust created by the traffic is as bad as a country gravel road.

I think I had close to 4 inches in West DM. Way more than I thought it was going to be!

It's really interesting how the whole perception of winter weather changes as we get into the end of the winter. The roads throughout most of the metro were ******* throughout the morning commute, and worse than that on back highways and side roads. Hardly any 2-hr delays and hardly any weather coverage buildup even though there was a decent amount of snow throughout central Iowa. Granted by noon the ground temperatures dried off all the roads and started melting snow in a hurry, but it's still funny to think about how differently we react to snow events later in the year.

Looks like could be a busy Spring in Iowa with tornadoes. Go to 7:05 mark:
