The weather lead in on the local news was “enjoy it while it lasts (50’s)….the cold will return next week as we dive in to the mid-40’s”. What?

I guess they have to say something? I mean, it is supposed to cool down. I guess. But 38 degrees on the Iowa/Minnesota border is not a Polar Vortex.

This is the first year I've had it (bought it used in November) so I don't know how great the batteries are, so I just went out and put it on the charger for today just to make sure they're still living. Good news, they are

Calling this a polar vortex when we'd be talking in the 20s for highs more or less makes the terms useless.

Also, using the Canadian model as evidence for you weather argument is some pretty soft footing to be standing on.

Oh, wow … I heard the thunder at my place and saw the towering cumulus sweeping off to the northeast towards Marion, but I didn’t know it was hailing.

Tornado warning one county over from me. This developed quickly. Might run through the northwestern corner of my county, so they'll blow the sirens everywhere, that'll will confuse a lot of people, it's still kind of clear here.
