***Official 2024 Weather Thread***

This is excellent advice.

I clean the flame sensor on my furnace and water heater every winter to prevent them from shutting down. Just check the model of your furnace and then Google how to clean the flame sensor for that model. You should be able to do it yourself.

The alternative is to pay $100+ to have an HVAC technician come to your house and do it for you.
Eh, I just pay every year to get my furnace tuned up. They know what their doing, I don't. My extent of furnace knowlege is changing the filter every couple months.

My husband still has to be at work at 5:30A tomorrow. *rubs temples* Frickin' sucks.

Yuck. I’ve turned into such a winter driving chicken since I’ve been able to work from home. On days like today, I’d have always took vacation. But now, I see 5 inches of snow and don’t want to leave.

That just sounds smart. I think about all the awful weather I've pushed through (and will be stuck pushing through), and it seems like a bunch of mistakes more than anything else.

The low is slowing down in Illinois/Chicago area so will it mean more additional snow here? Maybe, we shall see, but still getting all that additional is still very problematic.
