I grew up in Des Moines and went to a metro school. It had to be apocalyptic for DSM to close.Do you have proof that’s the case? It seems like a boomer explanation with no basis in fact.
I suspect schools are a bit quicker to call things off now but mostly we forget how often we had snow days growing up.

Ain’t one yet.
I'm guessing school gets called sooner so parents can figure out child care needs for the upcoming day.Do you have proof that’s the case? It seems like a boomer explanation with no basis in fact.

Schools cancelled again. Kids these days are pansies.
Another thing to mention with DSM proper vs suburbs, there are cars all over the streets in DSM, snow ordnance or not, it just adds extra time to everything.

I think it has to be sustained noise. I'd have to read through again, but I believe that's the caseHow do garbage trucks even get work done? Ours comes around 5:45 in the morning. That makes more than what nearly every city code allows.
They are way more often now. Roads are partially covered and even normal between here and Ames and school is closed. No snow falling and no wind. This wouldn’t have happened even 15 years ago.Do you have proof that’s the case? It seems like a boomer explanation with no basis in fact.
