I don’t see TJ going much deeper than an 8 man rotation starting in January. Jackson’s ability to stay out of foul trouble will be key as young centers can take awhile to develop. But otherwise this is a solid rotation.

If Curtis Jones plays next year like he did second half of this year we’re one of the best back courts in the country. Had he played this way all year we win that Thanksgiving tourney and are a #1 seed in the West or #2 in the Midwest probably playing tomorrow or Sunday.
Jackson will be around 22 y.o. with multiple years of college b-ball experience, so hardly a "young center."

He isn’t in the top 75 on the Athletic either. I would question whether they were really offers.
Doesn’t really matter anyway. It’s about fit.
He entered and was picked up pretty quickly, but I’d trust coaching staffs to evaluate better than contract writers for sports websites

That’s a huge difference. We had three proven post players. Going into next year with Jackson and then needing massive improvement from Omaha, or an 18 year old to be Big 12 starter level (like Ward was) is to be avoided

The other big difference is next year is a great opportunity. Get a bet bench than last year.
With all due respect our front court coming into this year was a concern too. As a junior, 4th-year senior Jones was average to below average and Ward barely played.

The staff has shown they can really improve a kid’s play with offseason development

Espn just put out an article about the top 50 transfers. It has alot of guys I've never even heard of but no Jackson.

By his numbers and other offers I figured he'd be in the Top 10-20.

Ugh, that bench needs work-counting on major minutes from Omaha and Rock is less than ideal.
I have no inside information. But not sure I get all the concern about Rock. Yes, he is young and big guys usually develop slower than guards. But, he has been on the team all season. Lifting, eating and getting knocked around by 3 5th year guys. Jackson will start.
But I think Rock will be good in a significant back up roll. I am much more concerned by our lack of a Tre King replacement. Based upon reported portal interest / so is TJ.

It will only be assuaged by seeing JT play. He's 18 years old. If he shows skill and ability to defend and run the floor, people will stop the hand-wringing about it.

Jackson is a transfer senior. Nothing young about him. New to the system, yes, but hopefully he has learned foul management at UNC-Charlotte.

I don’t know that we need our frontline guys to be major offensive weapons, just physical and able to run the floor.

I certainly hope Omaha stays and develops. But would understand if he transfers; whatever he does I'll root for him.
Why wouldn't he stay? I hope the idea he's a one and done to the NBA is over. I'd be more concerned about Milan in that regard. Omaha has some work to do on his game. Transfer? Why? Is he going to get better coaching somewhere else or playing time? I don't see him getting better coaching and playing time isn't guaranteed. He'll have to work for it anywhere he goes and if he does the work here he'll play. He came to ISU because of the connection to the staff and state. I see them working hard with him in the off-season and either him or Watson step into King's roll.

Definitely be a good get. Only question would be is he big enough to give us solid backup minutes at the 5 on top of minutes he'd get at the 4?
He’d be a take regardless.

In an article on his transfer, it mentioned Ok St played him some at 5.

I think the tournament is proving that we definitely could use some spacing (and more scoring/shooting) out of our front court. All 5 guys need to be threats to score. It significantly impacts how defenses guard you.

Jackson looks to be an upgrade in those areas compared to our front court this past season.

No, not really, and certainly no where near a concern of playing Omaha and Rock significant minutes

Do people on here really think Omaha is going to contribute much next season? From watching him this season, to me, it looks like he has a much much longer way to go than I initially thought. If I had to guess, I’d say Omaha doesn’t see the floor a lot next season if he stays.

Yes. I could see him in a Watson-like role or somewhere between the Watson/King role. If it really clicks, possibly even more. From what we've seen so far, he's raw. But the athleticism is clearly visible. He could have one of the biggest jumps we've ever seen from year one to two. I think of his situation this year to be similar to Hassan Wards last year. Omaha had very little time with the team before the season started.

Nobody is doubting his athleticism. We all know he’s a freak of an athlete. Putting it all together for him just seems like a very lengthy process that may or may not ever happen.
