Nothing matters unless the bullpen is improved.
I will stand by getting Burnes solves 90% of the bullpen because it forces the Wicks and Assads, who can only throw 4 innings, back to the bullpen.

Im not arguing Wicks and Assad aren’t good at starting, but your bullpen gets taxed when 40% of your rotation can’t throw more than 4-5 innings.

Good to finally see this. But, as a season ticket holder I would have really liked to see this last week because the I-Cubs leave for a week after today.

This series is going to tell us in a few weeks if the Cardinals are just as bad of a team as we have been for the bulk of the season or the Cubs are going to give the fans hope only to pull the rug out from under us like they did last year.

Watching this series and that Cardinals team just didn't impress me much. I just don't see it with them but watch they will somehow sneak into the Playoffs.

Alcantara is the one of the three that's probably not ready. Still too many Ks. But it may of been a mental setback not getting promoted with the other two stars. I'd say maybe new coaching helps here but Caissie's numbers kinda reject that theory. Regardless it's an overload of talent we haven't seen in Des Moines since Carter and Hall.

Those 3 guys go from the best team in AA to the worst team in AAA. This likely is the greatest collection of talent ever to be in Des Moines at one time.

I really want to see Busch at 1st for the next 5+ years but if they can get Soto I will allow him to move over to 2nd.
I don't think you have to worry about it. If Bellinger opts in i can't believe we'd go after Soto. I think best case next year we see one of these combinations on the roster.
Bellinger/Burnes or
Soto/Taillon

I want to know why they haven't tried Busch at 3B at all this season given the issues we had there prior to trading for Paredes. My only conclusion is he must have been just as bad if not worse than Morel defensively there otherwise they would have tried him out there by now. When Bellinger is healthy he can play 1B if they started Busch at 3B and still have plenty of OF options available.

To be honest there really isn't a guy on the roster that if there was an upgrade available that would significantly help the offense that they couldn't try moving to a different position or trade if needed. Yeah there are complications with contracts that probably can't be moved I know but at this point if you can acquire a big bat for the heart of the lineup you do it then work through any roster issues you have to accommodate the addition. Always have the DH to use if you need to push someone out of a position.
