***Official 2023 Weather Thread***

Pretty juicy tornado setup today in Dixie alley, getting 12/10-12/11 vibes.

Bullseye is one of the worst radar holes in the country as well imo.

Haven't been here in a while, with no severe weather and no blizzards yet.

But for the weather guys here -- is it ever going to rain again? Or is the midwest the new Utah?

Been thinking of throwing some ribs on the smoker for the chiefs game tonight, but weather app keeps telling me its going to rain in the metro this afternoon.

DSM metro? I don’t know if I would call it “rain”. Annoying mist maybe? With tiny pockets of light but steady “rain”?

Above freezing and streets are dry in Ames.

I cleared a solid 3 inches off the driveway this morning. Too early in the season for this ****. Wet slushy stuff too, so of course every numbnuts who can't drive slide into the ditches around CR.

Every day this time of year with "nice" temperatures is a day without cold temperatures and one day closer to spring. Most of us know we can see some awful Iowa weather in November and December. We just need moisture. We have a pond by our home and it is the lowest we have seen it in the 30 years we have been here. I grew up here and there are ponds that have dried up. I used to be ice fishing by Christmas and have my permanent shack out by Christmas. I sold it two years ago and it is still sitting beside the guys shed who bought it.
