A 5 second Facebook search yielded many results of 4+ from Ames to Story City. I would say you didn't look very hard, but we all knew you would be the contrarian regardless of how much rain actually fell.
Well, if @mynameisjonas disputes it, you know it’s wrong.
Damn, the jig is up. I messaged everyone on Ames People and told them to report their rain totals higher than yours to bamboozle you. Didn't think you would catch on so quickly.
Our backyard rain gauge showed right at 6 in. Of course the inches side is marked in eighths instead of tenths so that 6 in. could be way off. Ames. And now just as humid as yesterday even with wind.
Says the guy spamming dumb votes.
Well this coming week is game week so I assume we'll be getting our average annual rainfall over the next five days.
Throw in Farm Progress Show and that is essentially a sure bet.

This site had some +3.80" recorded on the west side of Ames. Often higher amounts are averaged out in the model. Not unrealistic that some 4" plus amounts have been reported in the area.
I use the weather station I have at my house. Its spot on for my house and neighbors
