Not exactly sure.
Interesting tidbit I learned on the old webs. Depending on your location in Iowa, the ten heaviest precipitation days in our state account for 40-48% of all the rainfall. I thought it would be spread out more than that.

With the average in DSM of 35.9"......that isn't hard to believe. All you need are 10 event's that average out to 1.5" and there it is.

And on an average year 10 events sounds about right. On a dry year......10 is too many. On a wet year......10 isn't enough.

Hence the word........average.

August hasn't as dry (Twin Cities) as June/July but still -7 inches from average for the summer. Drought map hasn't changed much. Looking like a repeat of last year year to date but even drier for the summer than 2021.
