***Official 2019-2020 Transfer Thread***

Our offense has not been a problem. Even last year it wasn't the glaring issue. It's been our defense. Eastern would 1000% help that. We have good offensive guys, let's build that defense up.

This is the truth. The times our offense sucked for long stretches last year was because it was coming entirely in the half court. Defense leads to transition which leads to better offense. Eastern and Figeroa are both very good defenders.

When we can't brick in a 3 point shot and lose 51-49 all the critics on this board will be screaming why is he playing he can't shoot. You do need to score as well, the fact that he isn't even a mild threat means the rest of the team is playing 4 on 5....offense may not of been our problem this year, but he would make it a problem

2X all big 10 defense team

who was the last isu player to make big 12 all defense?

Who was the last ISU guard who played big minutes to make zero three point shots in a freakin season!!! You might have to go back to pre three point line to answer that.

If we lose 51-49, I'm sure there are going to be a lot other shots we'd be criticizing other than Nojel's hypothetical miss at the end of the game to lose. I'm sure most of us will also wonder why Nojel would take that hypothetical shot if he is indeed not a good 3 pt shooter, instead of attacking the rim.

ISU is not long on ball handlers for next season. This guy can defend, pass and dribble. Hope we can land him.

LJ Figueroa, Nojel Eastern, Blake Hinson. Those are the guys I'd love (I know we only have room for two). I'd also be fine with only one of those guys, and bank the other scholarship.
Ahmed Ali and Reggie Chaney are a couple of guys who I wouldn’t be mad about getting either

PICK HIM UP!

I don't get you guys, the same things people complain about us not having he can't do. Has not made a 3 point shot in 2 years. Doesn't get to the free-throw line and when he does he shoots under 50% (as a guard -on a free throw). He is doesn't create shots for other people career less than 2 assists per game. His assist to turn over ratio last year is less than 2. Do not want, and according to the SI article he doesn't have the best people around him giving feedback. They point out he thinks he is ready for NBA when as guard he can't shoot. He is gone through the draft process twice

Our shooting was fine last year. It was not great, but it was adequate.

Our defense was ******* terrible.

We have been over this a half-dozen times now.

We were #7 in the Big 12 in three-point shooting last year -- with Haliburton and Bolton, our two best shooters, each missing stretches with injury.

We were not a great shooting team last year, but we were not an atrocious one, either. I know complaining about shooting is easier to see, but our problem really was defense, not offense. We were a negative outlier on defense versus the conference.

The gap between Iowa State and #9 TCU on defense was as large as the gap between TCU going all the way up to #5 Texas and almost up to #4 TTU. Were were bad on D.

But we were pretty good on offense (we were #3 until Haliburton and Bolton went down to injuries, which ground our offensive efficiency down) --

We need to learn how to stop, not how to score/shoot, relatively speaking.

Do you know how basketball works? Defense is half the game. Dennis Rodman's range was "dunk," and he was a foundational piece for two NBA dynasties.

This is exactly the kind of guy we need.

I wouldn't mind having Eastern but I wouldn't want him on the court if the four other guys aren't legit threats from 3. You really need at least 4 three point threats on the court these days for spacing purposes.

Watch his highlights and tell me with a straight face this guy would not help us out next year. Would LJ and the kid from Ole Miss be better? Yeah no doubt! But if we have a shot at Eastern, we will 100% take him.

It all depends on how Eastern can help you out offensively in other ways. Baylor for instance rarely had four 3 point threats on the court, but Vital was able to make up for that by being a junk yard dog.

Yeah straight face. That video has about all his career makes. His freshman year he averaged 2.9 pts per game so each of those makes was his only make in the entire freaking game. He shoots 42% from the floor that includes the garbage shots.

And you're judging the entirety of a player's ability based of his freshman year why? He's a defensive minded player who shoots around 50% from the 2 because most of his points come off of steals for dunks or he gets the ball dished to him and he dunks. I like dunks.

When considering shooting the ball, ask yourself three questions...

Is it a dunk?
Is it a layup?
Is it an open corner three?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then go ahead and shoot it.

If not -- don't.

No he doesn't shoot around 50% from 2, as a junior he shot 42% from the floor only 3 shots were attempted from 3 so he shoots 42.7 on 2 point shots. He has fewer steals than turnovers. He accounts for less than 3% of his teams steals when he is on the floor. By most of his points you mean the 2 buckets per game as a junior?
