His announcement was the best, where every single reason he gave for UNLV fit Fred and ISU, and none fit UNLV.

right. It’s like he wrote his commitment speech for Iowa State and when he took the money he just wrote UNLV over top of Iowa State. They didn’t run any sort of pro offense at Vegas.

Is he really that type of player? You’re portraying him as a game changer. I mean, if we don’t have any hope without him, we’re not likely having much hope with him. He’s a 5’9” combo guard suited to be role player, no?

I think we have a good amount of hope, but need a little more to get us on the right side of the bubble. Harris could be that.
I guess I should have qualified my statement by explaining that what I meant by "any hope of being decent" I mean any hope of being a bubble-type team. I certainly don't think he alone is a game changer, nor JC-L on his own for that matter, but with JC-L and an eligible Harris, I think you could make a case that this team could achieve bubble conversation come tournament time next March. That would be a fairly deep back court with solid bigs too. I guess the great unknown still would be defense. How does a lineup that could at times feature 3 guards 6'2'' or less defend anyone with any kind of length? Rome wasn't built in a day I guess, but goddammit it feels good to be inching in the right direction.

If Prohm could coach, he’d be able to get about whoever he wanted IMO.

After Halliburton gets drafted in the top 10 picks, Prohm will have like 9 players he’s coached playing in the NBA. Normally that would have kids lining up to play for you, but not when you’re coming off a terrible season and staring at another terrible season in the face where you have little chance of making the tourney again.

Kids want to win and play in the tourney.... especially transfers with only a year or two left to play.

Is Harris's case for getting a waiver public knowledge? Can we talk about it in here?

I think it's pretty easy to make the case he was run off. They were over the limit before he announced. Sorry, my initial post came off as a vague indication there was something more salacious there.

He has done those things. Maybe not as much as some fans would like, but he's done them more often than not.

Someone like JC-L could be a tipping point for us getting there. I don't think he alone can get us there, but he's a valuable piece to have. Say Harris gets his waiver too, and I think an argument can be made that this team can at least compete to be on the bubble this coming March. Say Harris gets his waiver, we get JC-L AND we add an additional immediately eligible piece at the 3-4 position and this team suddenly looks pretty good all around.

If the staff is pitching to JC-L and other grad transfers this way, I don't see why they wouldn't want to come here for the one last go at a tournament run. With JC-L we're talking about a guy who played on a bad Illinois team for 2 years and then DePaul who hasn't been good since before JC-L was born. He'll have as good a chance in Ames next year as he's had over the course of his career so far.

X. Foster literally listed getting to the pro's as a reason he chose ISU over many programs (specifically EIU)...
Criticizing Prohms game coaching is fine, but his recruiting, development and getting players into the NBA shouldn't be a reason. he is obviously getting ISU on the top transfers radar for that reason.
This year of missing on the early GT's was due to not visiting Ames is a much bigger hurdle than NCAA expectations IMO. Players would think they are the piece to get the team to 20+ wins. The top two targets after all chose staff they new and campus's they visited before (Aiken/Turner).

Foster and Blackwell straight up said the reason they picked Iowa State was because of Iowa State and Prohm's history of getting guys to the NBA.

I don't know if he is, but if Blackwell is NBA material, I'm encouraged about this coming year.

Alright arm chair point guards, is he a take?
I think so. Not exactly eye popping stats.....but the talent is there. And there were people saying if he could improve on some of his game, he could have been one of the best wings next season in the Big Turd.

I agree with you, even if this guy struggled a little bit with the long ball he checks the boxes we still need checked for defense and rebounding. A great option for a small ball 4, rotating between him and Johnson
