MLB: ***Official 2018 Chicago Cubs Season Thread***

Not crazy about shaking things up that much while on a 5 game win streak but I trust Joe. If this gets Rizzo going I'm all for it cause he can damn near win games by himself when he's hot. Giving the Almora-Javy 1-2 punch a day off too it looks like.

The offense has been pretty brutal during the win streak, not like they've been getting 8 runs a game. They've been winning thanks to unbelievable pitching.

That's true. The lineup did do pretty well against Jon Gray last week so I was assuming the lineup was gonna be pretty similar to what it was then. I'm interested to see what happens

There was a fangraphs article on Baez where they looked at if he had really changed his approach or he was just on a hot streak. His swinging percentage at pitches out of the strike zone was basically the same as last year, the biggest difference was that he was swinging at a much higher percentage of strikes. Basically he was being more aggressive on good pitches. The scouting report used to be don't throw him strikes when you're ahead in the count, I think pitchers are adjusting now and not throwing him much when they are even or behind in the count too. If Javy can actually become more selective on pitches out of the strike zone is what could turn him into a 1.000 OPS type of hitter.
Considering he is still at .963 after going just .607 the last 7 days, I think that isn't too much of a reach.

Getting really ******* tired of watching cubs pound the ball on the ground into a shift. Especially the lefties. They were literally giving Rizzo a base if he bunted and on a night with the wind blowing out you want as many base runners as possible for a chance a multi run HRs. That selfish baseball.

Bunting with two outs and a guy who doesn't steal is not the greatest idea.
