I weigh more than Rizzo's slugging percentage and we are still 6 games over .500. Scary. At least for the rest of baseball.
Brewers winning again. In their latest 9-4 run all of their victories have come against teams who are a combined 24-61 (.282) including the worst team in each of the two leagues. Good job on beating teams you should beat, but dang those are some baaaaaaadd teams.
Kind of have to wonder if the Dodgers are able to put much together this season with Seager being out. Kind of odd how bad they and the Nats (and the Cubs for a while) have been so far this season.
Considering those 4 losses just happened at the hands of the Cubs and they are in the same division race, I think it still fits here.
Kind of funny that someone jumps on my post but ignores the very next post that is about the Dodgers. As a Cub fan, I find how division rivals perform to be relevant to the fortunes of my favorite club.

Feel bad for Seager but the Dodgers sucking should keep that troll dodger fan from coming around here again.
It's hard to be consistently great in baseball. Last year people were acting like the Dodgers were this unbeatable juggernaut in the Cubs path for the foreseeable future. Turns out the Dodgers aren't immune from regression and injuries either.
I've felt the same thing the last couple of games. Thought he had been doing much better not extending the zone. Not that I expected him to continue on the pace he was on, but I hope he stays focused on what he was doing well and avoiding the old Javy.
On a side note, even tho slumps happen for every major leaguer, I can't remember ever noticing Rizzo in this 'long' of a slump before. He is really struggling getting hits.
So, any guesses? Something he'll break out of shortly? Or the back is still an issue?
Yeah it’s been rough, and looking up at that .150 average every day doesn’t help mentally. Sounds dumb, but a lot of times a new month can help a guy focus a bit more. Instead of getting a hit and saying “wow, I’m still only at .164”, now he can get a hit and say, “alright off to a good start, batting 1.000 in May.” I’m sure that’s way oversimplifying things, but still.
He’s too good to be this bad for much longer, and I expect him to start getting things turned around in the next couple series.
The back may still be bugging him a bit, but mostly pitchers have gotten wise to the fact that he can’t cover the inside corner of the plate like he used to. That along with his refusal to slash the outside pitches to left field has made him an easy out.
There really is no benifit that I see from him crowding the plate.

Really shaking things up, Addy went from an OPS of barely over .500 to clean up in a few days.
Not crazy about shaking things up that much while on a 5 game win streak but I trust Joe. If this gets Rizzo going I'm all for it cause he can damn near win games by himself when he's hot. Giving the Almora-Javy 1-2 punch a day off too it looks like.
There was a fangraphs article on Baez where they looked at if he had really changed his approach or he was just on a hot streak. His swinging percentage at pitches out of the strike zone was basically the same as last year, the biggest difference was that he was swinging at a much higher percentage of strikes. Basically he was being more aggressive on good pitches. The scouting report used to be don't throw him strikes when you're ahead in the count, I think pitchers are adjusting now and not throwing him much when they are even or behind in the count too. If Javy can actually become more selective on pitches out of the strike zone is what could turn him into a 1.000 OPS type of hitter.
