MLB: ***Official 2018 Chicago Cubs Season Thread***

So your theory is that brewers fans buy season tickets and then when they play the cubs they sell their tickets to cub fans at high prices in order to pay for their season tickets? That's gold jerry. Gold.

I don't have a lot to say about the theory espoused here, but I read somewhere about the size of Chicago relative to the entire state of Wisconsin (and the close proximity between the two cities) and why Cubs fans would flock en masse to Brewtown. I watch quite a bit of baseball - including Cubs games - and the presence of Cubs fans at ANY ballpark is fairly high (albeit - not 50%). Heck, during the Cubs season a couple years ago, I was watching them play Arizona IN ARIZONA - there were LOTS of Cub fans in attendance and they seemed to be louder than the home team fans. The reality is that the Cubs are a national brand and they are going to have a decent contingency of fans at any ballpark - especially now that they are winning. Also, the Brewers have the 10th highest average attendance (even if you take away ALL the Cubs fans tickets at Miller Park). This is pretty good for a small market club.

You guys were a lot more tolerable when you were the loveable losers. Now you are just the unbearable bastards. Can't wait until you suck again. Makes me miss Steinbrenner

Ugh, think this will hurt us fairly bad in terms of what we would do in the Playoffs (if we get there):

I apparently don't understand the new homeplate catcher blocking the plate rules.... I played catcher for 14 years. How was that not against the rules?

I think cause he had the ball. Once you have the ball you can block the plate as much as you want (if I remember the rules correctly). You just have to leave a lane while you’re receiving it

I'll have to look at it again. I mean the ball clearly beat him but Idk if him blocking the plate caused him to slow.

Late to the party on posting about last night but it's a shame Maples can't find the strike zone consistently with that nasty slider he has. That pitch has so much movement for him but it's like watching the Wild Thing Ricky Vaughn when he pitches. Stuff looks great but have no idea where the pitch is going.

Sucks about Morrow but I think the pen is in pretty good shape for the playoffs still. Unlike the regular season Joe tends to be stingy in the playoffs with his bullpen and will use his best guys multiple innings if he has to. Right now I see the pitching staff shaping up like this:

Rotation:
Lester
Hamels (the way he is pitching right now should be #1 but have to go with Lester's track record in the postseason)
Hendricks
Quintana

Bullpen
Montgomery
Chavez
Chishek
Edwards
Wilson
Rosario
Strop

Rosario probably the odd man out if Morrow happens to make it back. Kintzler and De La Rosa have shown me nothing to trust them in a tight spot and I doubt Garcia will either. Duensing and Chatwood have been horrible too so doubt they are under consideration at this point. Monty and Chavez can give you quality multiple innings and Chishek can go 1+ sometimes too. Obviously having Morrow makes that bridge to the closer a lot better but Joe seems to pick his spots in the playoffs well where he'd bring in someone like Monty to get 2+ innings out of him in a double switch. Look at how he was not afraid to bring in Chapman in for multiple innings which almost bit him in the World Series but he usually does not mess around in a tight spot in a playoff game and will go to his best guy to get out of it if he has to.

Get ******. Your franchise is and always will be ass. At least when we suck we hold a nationwide following. Nobody gives a rat's ass what the Brewers do outside of ****** Milwaukee and it couldn't be more obvious by the amount of Cubs fans that consistently take over Miller Park. Miler Park is to Cubs fans what the Sprint Center is to Iowa State fans.

Funny, Brewers fans were much more tolerable before the Cubs started winning IMO. It seems seeing a club like the Cubs turn it around and start winning has turned them in to a bunch of whiny little *******.

Miss Steinbrenner? There is still a Steinbrenner in charge and they are the third best team in baseball and play in a different league than the Cubs and Brewers.

The Brewers were a lot more tolerable before they put the Wisconsin resident ticket plan in place. Their fans suck so much.
