*** Official 2015-16 NBA Playoff Thread ***

The TV guys are not going to like this OKC vs Toronto finals.

American TV execs. Toronto probably has one of the bigger home markets given one team for a nation of 35 million. NBA is probably fine with Toronto having success to grow their league. OKC maybe not as much with a population equal to Iowa.

I think it's probably more of a case in that Curry's game is among the best ever offensively, but not necessarily as geared for perennial playoff dominance, even though obviously it was last year.

With a few exceptions of well oiled teams the NBA champ usually has an individual elite player who can physically impose his will on both ends whenever they need to.

The mistake people made was saying Curry won the championship. He was great but that warriors team was the so good because they played team ball and had 7-8 guys who could all score. They also got to play against a severely crippled team in the finals.

In hindsight, I think the physicality of the Portland series left Golden State players hurt more than they will probably admit. They have flashes where they look like the same team as the regular season, but they just seem to have less legs in them right now.

They also went for 73, and admitted doing so, instead of resting players down the stretch.

Did no one ever tell Draymond that he wasn't suspended? Because he definitely didn't show up.

These games just keep getting better. I'm absolutely pumped for Thursday.

Also, Steve Kerr is a *****.

Agreed.

The Warriors title is more like the recent Spurs or Detroit titles, very well oiled team title. Those are less common than Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, Hakeem, Dirk, Wade and LeBron putting teams on their backs for most of the past 20-25 years of titles. I'll say Curry is the best shooter I've ever seen and one of the best offensive players, but I'm not convinced he's a guy to put a team on his back and will them through the playoffs. Not a knock on him, but those guys are usually physical beasts.

Didn't the Warriors beat the Cavs in 6 when they had so many guys injured that Delly was their second best player besides LeBron?

I don't pay that much attention though, the over-hype of this team all year has been nauseating.

I wonder how much value Harrison Barnes has lost just based on these playoffs. Dude's a ghost.

I just hope everyone bashes Steph for being "soft" and "not clutch" like they always do for Lebron when he faces adversity in the playoffs..

I'm not talking about him being soft at all, he's an undersized shooting guard. Easily the greatest undersized shooting guard the game has ever seen, but that's still simply what he is by definition.

I've been following the NBA almost 30 years, Curry is incredibly unique among the 10 or so players I've seen lead teams to titles that were "their" team. Jordan, Kobe and Wade are from the same cut, very physical strong long shooting guards. LeBron/Magic did a lot of what they did and were even more physical, LeBron probably being the strongest perimeter player in basketball history. Shaq was Shaq. Hakeem and Dirk created mismatches with their length and agility.

I can't think of a single undersized player who carried an elite team to a title like Curry. Doesn't mean he isn't great, but also probably does mean something to prognostications and guessing how his playoff career will unfold.

Isiah is probably the closest thing.

I agree with all you are saying. It is just that whenever the ball falls the wrong way for Lebron teams people always rip him for what he is doing. I think the same should go for Curry, he has been tough to watch this series and it is too bad because he is an unbelievably dynamic shooter. Only thing I have heard so far is "Is he injured? He must be injured." Why can't people just accept that he hasn't been the same player because he isn't making the crazy shots he usually does while the rest of his awesome team isn't playing up to par. Last year when he "struggled" in the Finals comparative to the rest of his season Iggy played out of his mind on both ends of the floor which lit a fire that helped propel them against a deflated-by-injury team. Noone is doing that thus far this year, and it has to fall on someone.

LeBron's always been graded on a tougher scale than anyone in NBA history. He's always been compared to the all-time greats rather than other guys in the league. Everything he's done has been in a historical context from the time he was a rookie, it's always going to be different with him compared to anyone else.

I think some of that is because LeBron has been such a physical beast, the most raw talent, size and athleticism we've ever seen. Shaq is the closest comparison in terms of LeBron to that. People saw them and couldn't imagine how the DON'T win a title. Other players look like kids compared to them at times.

In comparison people see Curry's build and are completely amazed he was clearly the MVP for two years.

Not saying any of this is fair, but it happens.

It really doesn't look like Curry is big enough to fight through all the off-the-ball contact that has been allowed. Teams know they can grab and pull him with regularity when he doesn't have the ball. It doesn't get called at near the rate it probably should. That's probably one thing which really helps the more physically dominant stars. They can play through that contact a lot easier.

The crazy thing to me is that LeBron actually lived up to the hype. He was incredibly hyped coming out of high school into the NBA and actually met expectations. He isn't perfect, but he has had an incredible career. I can't think of anyone who had as much hype and lived up to it to the degree he has, at least out of high school.

Yeah, Isaiah would switch between point and sg depending on situation but he definitely is comparable in terms of not being physically impressive but still dominant. Had great leadership qualities.

Even a guy like Westbrook, he's not a big guard like Jordan or Kobe but he still physically dominates the guy guarding him quite regularly.

true, true. I guess my original post was just a bit of a jab at that fact. And with everyone saying Steph is the best shooter of all time, him not being on his game in the biggest part of their season should be talked about, and not have excuses made for.
