OFF THE RECORD PODCAST: Steve Prohm

My complete shot in the dark (not a subscriber to any pay sites or anything) is Zoran Talley from Old Dominion. 6'7" SF. Conference USA Sixth Man of the Year this past year.

This is based on the fact that Neill Berry follows him, his mom, and his old prep school coach on Twitter, he would have two years (I think) to play, and the fact that Talley was dismissed from ODU in April for a "violation of team rules". He has also been suspended a couple of other times - no idea what for. Could those be the academic issues that Chris has hinted at?

I could be way off base here, but figured I would at least throw a little speculation out there.

ha, I saw that too (and noticed it was right at about the two month timeline that Chris mentioned that he's been hinting at), but thought it may have been too big of a stretch for a post that was already going out on a limb.

Since you guys are all over it, I'll say that Talley is the guy I have been hinting at. Please don't misconstrue that as me reporting a done deal or anything like that though.

Would he be At the 3 or 4? No 3 point shot, but not really different that Babb or Beverly in that way. Not a huge rebounder and only 200, so not a lot of weight to throw around. Almost a Nader without a 3. Best game is on transition if I'm reading him right.

Some of you guys are really good at this Twitter sleuthing. Not sure if I'm impressed or creeped out haha

He'd be an interesting pick up, definitely in the mold of undersized power forward that we've had a lot of success with. Not saying he'd have the impact we've become accustomed to but he'd atleast give the option which is half the battle.

The future is still out on how Prohm will finish on the list of ISU coaches, but it's pretty easy to tell that he is a great person. I hope he has nothing but success and stays in Ames for a looong time a Johnny Orr type tenure wouldn't bother me a bit ( as long as we are making the NCAA tourney).

I will take a Bowie on every team every year going forward. He just didn't fit the makeup of last year as well as he will going forward.

Bowie was held back because he is essentially a poor man's Burton (undersized 4), and was forced to play the 5 most of the time.

So what Im hearing is that he'll commit by the end of the week and if that doesn't happen our program spirals off to the point where we have to resort to hiring AAU coaches to get recruits.
