Oasis was huge in the US during the 90s. All the people my age are the ones that are now in the prime of their spending years and are very nostalgic for their 20s. Their shows would sell out at every venue in the US.
I was in middle school during their hay day, and Oasis was constantly on the radio. "Wonderwall" was a slow dance song at my junior high dances for Christ's sake. They were absolutely massive in America from like 1995-1997, and people who discovered them then tend to still love them.
All you have to do is sing “Today is going to be the day….”
And all 40,000,000 Americans aged 40-50 will finished the song. But I guess they weren’t popular in the US. LOL

I never liked Oasis much and they were basically unavoidable.
It was all the other britpop bands like Blur, Pulp, Stone Roses and Supergrass who unfortunately never made it big here, for my taste I always preferred it to grunge and hip hop but I was in the vast minority of 90s teenagers. Oasis was as huge as any of the popular grunge bands and gangster rap acts of the time.
Radiohead kind of evolved into their own thing and made it big starting around the same time. Elastica had their one album that was actually pretty popular here but destroyed themselves with drug abuse before they could have a big followup album.
I liked a little of Blur, but I could never get into any of those other bands. Especially Pulp.
Pulp is kind of one song over and over where Blur/Oasis have more variety, especially blur ranges from dreamy folk music to really heavy distorted punk, you can even see some of the hip hop influence prior to Gorillaz.
Stone Roses were INCREDIBLE but like Elastica it's basically one album and a subpar followup that came too late. A lot of these bands had out of control egos involved, not just Oasis.
I didn't even really like Oasis that much at first because of the ego and comparing themselves to The Beatles but over time some of the songs on the first few albums and the single B sides are just undeniable. Their debut album and the bside collection 'Masterplan' are as good to me as Morning Glory.
All 3 of those are great, and there are good songs on pretty much every album after. Everyone likes to call "Be Here Now" some kind of massive dud, but it's just cursed by having followed "Morning Glory". It's got some kick ass Oasis tunes on it. Even if you can taste the cocaine drip in the back of your throat during the intro to "D'You Know What I Mean?".
I think non-coked out Noel or a good producer with some authority could have pretty easily edited Be Here Now into another great album, I still listen to some of it and I agree aspects of "D'you Know What I Mean" sound like their best. It's like the sound got better but they just had no restraint. The lack of editing and Liam's vocals on "all around the world" is comically bad but it does still have something, look how companies thinks it's their ultimate corporate ad campaign song. As a Beatles fanatic it feels like two fighting Lennons with the fame of #1 albums yet no George Martin, Harrison or Ringo to chill them out.
Wonderwall was unavoidable. I’m a big Oasis fan and have been since the 90’s. Other than wonderwall, most people don’t even know another song by them. I don’t ever remember the band being big, other than when Noel and Liam got into fights. My wife texted me earlier and asked what our bank account number was, and I replied, “Are you buying Oasis tickets?” Maybe I just don’t remember because where I’m from it was all about Metallica, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, STP, and Alice In Chains.
This forum baffles me constantly. I lived thru the '90's. Had to consult a library to see if I recognized any songs. One seemed familiar. Not in a good way.
And Wonderwall (lesser extent Champaigne Supernova) were huge songs.
I'm not sure I know anyone who doesn't know who Oasis is.
A lot of those acts from then have re-emerged in recent years to bring those that were there, back there.
They'd kill it in the US.
That one Blur song was the soundtrack for FIFA ‘95 and it was a huge song for them. Oasis was absolutely insanely huge in the mid 90’s. Many many hits. I think Liam needs the money and the only way for bands to make a lot of money quick is big tours.
These posts can’t be serious. If they are, these are just people that like post 1983 Foreigner and Journey with the Asian guy better.
And, somewhat coincidentally, Noel just had a £20million divorce settlement to pay. Guessing they’ll be properly motivated to get through the tour.
