NFL: **** NFL draft thread *****

Nice try but it makes no sense.

I guess complex words aren't for everyone.

I'm not really sure what is so complex here......................I guess if you hadn't followed the thread it "might" be?!

Mr. Xbox attacked me with a lot of crass, foul language. Others may find that "idiotic". Not too hard to decipher and I'll guess MOST others had it figured out. I'm sorry a couple of you didn't. .

Honestly I really enjoy posting over here and I get along with 85% of everyone very well and have had a ton of terrific dialogue with them. I have some detractors, but for the most part people seem to "get" what I say. Just because a few of you don't like how I say things doesn't make me an idiot. That falls back on them.

Edds was clearly a terrific athlete and just because they, or a couple lazy sites said otherwise doesn't make it so. Many think otherwise and as was said above, Edds will likely play immediately on third downs because......He is quick and athletic and can cover in space. He isn't a pass rusher like Kindle, but why Xbox got so mad about a comparison is beyond me. I guess he's anti-Edds, but Kindle can't play in space like Edds, so now what?!?!

I do agree someone has been foolish. But it wasn't me. I will counter anyone who attacks something I said, especially in such a manner. I do try to be respectful, but sometimes it is what it is.

I'm moving on this thread certainly wasn't meant for this.

Edds is just as fast, if not faster than Chad Greenway, and Greenway seems to be doing all right these days.

Greenway has football speed. He is one of the most underrated linebackers in the NFL. I didn't say Edds wasn't going to make a good pro, I was just saying he is not as fast or athletic as that other guy is letting on. I think Edds can be a solid linebacker at the pro level.

Put away the thesaurus. You don't have to impress us with your ostentatious verbage.

Holy crap does this get old. I talk like this every day, all day. If you'd like I can give you some phone numbers to call and ask people. I have always enjoyed language and rhetoric and when I find a word I don't know I look it up immediately. When I was a younger man I read the dictionary. I don't have to think about these words they just fall out. Honestly doesn't that fall back on you and your insecurities, complaining about how someone talks.

Man alive, they are words and meant to be used, I'm not making them up or looking them up. I don't think we even have a thesaurus anymore. I looked all over for a dictionary for my wife when she was playing scrabble the other day and couldn't find it. Get a grip friend, people who complain about things like this are really shining a light on themselves. There is a long winded psychological thought behind it, would you like to hear................

I got mad because you are being a hawk homer when talking about Edds. You also said Angerer might be faster than both Edds and Kindle which is a ridiculous statement. You were being a homer and still are.

You still don't get it do you......................Kindle will not and cannot play in space like Edds. He wasn't drafted for that and it won't be his thing. Edds's shuttle time's were better (quicker no matter how much you don't want it to be so) and he also had a longer Broad jump.

Kindle was a tick faster but way more physical. He also had a 36.5 Vertical to Edds 35.5, so although their total numbers are similar he is more explosive off the edge. Honestly I am resisting the urge to call you anything but smart. Kindle is a stud off the edge, but he will not, cannot cover people he space like Edds. He is a way "stiffer" athlet and not as fluid in space.

Edds on the other hand is being knocked for his physicality (he did only do about 16 reps on bench) therefore Kindle, because he can handle blocks better and is more physical, can explode off the edge better and "faster". Once again he CANNOT, track down slot backs and TE's like Edds can.

So one is NOT a better "athlete" than the other no matter how desperately you want it to be so. They are different with different skill sets. Honestly it is all mute as the initial premise was to show how obstinate and lazy ALL these rating services really are, and you missed it completely.

I watched both these cats play multiple times and I have read a lot of draft musing on hundreds of players. You are all wet here friend and way out on the ledge. They were never asked to do the same things in any game. Edds rushed the passer maybe 10 times last year. Kindle I doubt EVER covered a slot receiver.

Get over it, you way off base calling me out.

Chad

PS......................Although I personally think Edds was our best coverage Lber ever, and highly under appreciated by even Iowa fans, Greenway was still faster as I think he ran a 4.58 forty at his Pro day. He probably wasn't as big however.

Anything Pro Iowa really brings out their insecurities. Every site you find will tell you Angerer is very fast and plays faster than his time. It is you and guys who get mad like you that are Homers. I see it looks like you are trying to stick out an olive branch, and that is great. I'm a decent cat and I don't want to fight with you, but honestly this is my hobby. I don't drink, party, go out.....etc. I go to church, work a lot, raise 4 kids and watch copious amount so college football, and draft stuff. Iowa's kids always have great times and stats (except for bench numbers ironically) and that seems to p$%# off some ISU fans. I guess they don't want to know how many terrific athletes they have, but the facts don't lie. I have followed them for 6 years every since people continually tried to perpetuate the "slow" big 10 stuff.

You wont find ONE service that doesn't suggest Angerer is very fast. And some expected him to run sub 4.6 and they say things like..." Angerer ran a 4.63 at his Pro day but plays ever faster."

I'm sorry but it is you who is being a homer. Maybe you don't know or don't want to know but I've got a pretty good rep for being unbiased and fair. Not a homer AT ALL.

The statement I bolded still makes no sense.

You talk like this every day? How cool.

Maybe you irritate people because of you elitist attitude along with the fact you try to use a pretty high level vocabulary in order to make yourself seem more credible. Big and complex words mean nothing when used incorrectly.

I think Edds can be a very effective player, just questioning why you'd decide to argue that to death here. I know I wouldn't go to a hawk board and argue with them about how awesome Reggie Stephens is going to be....

I feel like if you really wanted to debate Hawk players and their potential in the NFL, coming to a likely biased Iowa State board was probably not the place to go. It may be you having the Hawkeye blinders on, or some other posters refusing to give credit to a Hawkeye, but either way, it's not exactly the place for a good debate on the subject. Lastly, insulting the other poster's intelligence isn't endearing yourself at all.

Agree, but in his defense there probably isn't much intelligent conversation on a Hawk board. Of course, I do not know this because I don't troll, but just extrapolating from real life situations, I would say there probably isn't much in depth conversation over there.

You don't understand speed. Larry Fitzgerald ran a slow forty, but it is clear that he is faster on the field. Shonn Greene ran a slow forty, but ran away from defenders in the playoffs. On the opposite end, Vernon Davis ran a 4.3 forty, but isn't out running corner backs who ran 4.6 forties. The 40 yard dash means jack. You watch them on the field, and Edds is not even close the athlete Kindle is. There is a reason why Kindle was talked about going in the first round, while Edds was being talked about going in the 4th - 5th range. You are trying to make Edds faster and a better player than Kindle when he is not. Also, Angerer is being talked about as the next Zach Thomas because he is limited athletically and has limited speed, but he is instinctive and has a nose to getting to the ball.

He is now. I dare someone to find a bigger freak of nature than Vernon Davis.

Well there's your winner for backhanded compliment of the day...

No he isn't, he is just finally understanding how to run routes and play to his potential. He is finally living up to his athletic ability and yes, he is the biggest freak I have ever seen.

The main problem is that people overestimate 40s. They are important, but so are the cone drills. Very rarely do players actually run 40 yards in a straight line. I think Vernon Davis killed it on all of those drills though. Man-Beast. probably the biggest mismatch in the game today.

Well played, he is running past linebackers. Check out his TD catches last year. He runs a ton of seam routes which really put a LB in a tough spot because he is usually faster than those guys. As soon as you put a corner on him he is just going to run them over. If Alex Smith gets himself where he needs to be VD could be very very good.

Or at least should be. VD was an absolute beast at the combine.

Did anyone see the OL from Maryland that was like 6'6 315 and ran a 4.84? He was also a freak.

Bruce Campbell? Yeah, so much of a freak that the Raiders were supposed to take him in Round 1.. Luckily they waited for rd. 4
