I reiterate, Nojus is as big as Heise, can handle, and had impressive high school stats. I'm hoping he's ready to play next year. A pg or combo will probably be needed to backup Tamin.
Tamin feels like BBall’s Beau Freyler. An absolute dawg who has pushed his body to its limits. Both guys lay it all on the line, and their bodies pay for it

Why does a team need a 15 man roster when they only play 8 per game? Who is in charge of these lame rules? All this creates is more recruitment expense, more transfers, more NIL expense, more coaching needs, and more scholarship expense. Might as well go with NBA minutes per game.

I’d say he’s in the mix with the freshman but I still want a proven D1 scorer on the wing

Why on earth are you rooting against a Cyclone?
Just see the writing on the wall. Simple as that. Wouldn’t be surprised if he transfers out after this year. Would love to be wrong but in today’s NCAA climate you fill the roster with the best you can get and there’s better than him out there. We will see what happens.

We probably wont have a 15 man roster.

That has nothing to do with rooting for him

I don’t think you risk that if you still have five returning for this year’s rotation. We’re an alpha scorers and a solid post from being right back where we are now
It will be telling what they do in the off season. If they don't go after a post then safe to assume they trust Dishon, Rock, and the German to handle the 5. Or go small with Jefferson.

I think the key is going to be how ready Pleta is. If he is they may stay away from a transfer post and let Jefferson fill that roll when necessary to open more minutes for Pleta. Plus you’d still have Rock for emergencies. If not bring in a post and let Rock try to earn some minutes.

Regardless an alpha scoring big guard is a must. I’m not sure Heise is what you want starting unless he finds his shot. Who knows maybe one of the freshmen are too good to sit but I don’t think you count on that.
Agree about needing a scoring guard, losing Gilbert/Jones is a lot of scoring power that will need to be replaced. Batemon is a great high school shooter, but you can't bet on a freshman giving you what you're losing. An experienced 3-pt threat is needed. Otherwise, we may run into the same problem as when Milan was out. It would help big time if Lipsey can remain healthy and improve his 3-pt shooting.

Plus limits expand to 15 next your so even with five coming in we still have one available. That said I bet we add a big guard and a replacement for Chatfield

@brentblum pretty much said there was no chance they are adding more scholarships next year due to cost. So while they can, I wouldn’t anticipate they will. If I am incorrect on this Brent, please correct as necessary.

Same height, but not as strong or experienced as Heise. But, I'm sure Nojus will get stronger in the off season. Hopefully, Heise will improve his 3-pt shooting.

Brent said if we added the 2 scholarships it’d have to be added on the women’s side of athletics too, so it’s not happening

I think TJ will want two serviceable bigs - but he'll always tend to go with Jefferson at crunch time. The mismatches are too good and the ability to switch everything really helps the defense clamp down at the end of the game.

Mildly relevant, but the scholarship limit rules are especially helpful for baseball players. Currently the 40 man roster splits 11 scholarships. New rules cap the roster at 34, but everyone could get a full ride.

No wonder kids sign when they’re drafted high enough. Why play in college for a partial scholarship?

So, I get the not filling 15 part but is there flexibility about how many you do fill?

Yes. Just like the current/past scholarship situation. No one was ever required to fill all 13 scholarships. 13 was just the max. Moving forward, the difference is you're only allowed 15 spots total, including non-scholarship players. (I'm not sure if there was a limit on the # roster spot you could have previously). It's up to each school how many scholarships they want to use, and how many players they want to pay $$ to.
