Yellow helmet looks better, especially with the stripes down the center. Our cardinal helmet looks exactly like USC and OU. If we had two gold stripes down the center, I'd like the cardinal helmets better.

Also, you think LSU's yellow helmet looks terrible? It's sweet.

I would like us to go back to yellow, since ISU has traditionally featured the yellow helmets. Just go with the I-State logo/stripes down the center on it as well.

Just remember who you're responding to. You're better off not even wasting the time.

What is the obsession with throwback jerseys? No matter how many adjustments you make, it looks dated and boring. Please bring on alternate jerseys and put the throwbacks in the dumpster where they belong.

If we are going to continue to use yellow instead of gold in the uniforms, I really don't care what they come up with. Iowa State colors are cardinal and gold not yellow. Does anyone know if the gold(yellow) now being used is decided by Iowa State or dictated by Nike?

We should use whatever color scheme we were using during the glory days of the Earl Bruce era. Just update to the current the logo.

So we should do gray uniforms because that's what everyone else is doing? That's so two thousand and late.

The classic look is clean and doesn't look ridiculous in ten years.

We should be the first team to stop wearing jerseys and just put numbers on the pads. Trendsetters and so much harder to tackle.

There aren't a ton of teams I see wearing Gray Unis or Black. We are talking prob only 1-2 games a year. We should also switch to White Helmets for godsakes. The Istate logo looks so much better on White. So dumb we haven't gone to white helmets. If Pollard and Isu wants the logo to stick out then switch to White Helmets. Anything but a red helmet with a red logo...lmao.

As far as UNis. Go for it. Kids want to look and feel cool especially on TV. Who cares if it doesn't jive with our colors. We have zero fball tradition.

Those look old and pretty ugly imo
There has been tons of really cool concepts in this thread. I would rather have a few alternate color designs to our every game uniform and a couple completely different designs as alternates.

I agree they look old and ugly. That was the point. They were trying to be trendy at the time.

I'm all for the white helmets. As a matter of fact, I wish we had multiple helmets like dozens of other programs get to enjoy. A yellow funnel would look pretty sweet on a red helmet I think.

It is Iowa State's decision, but when choosing the design of the I-State logo, Nike convinced Iowa State to go with more of a yellow shade than gold because it was going to be hard to produce gold t-shirts of the right shade because it wasn't a standard thread at the Nike sweat shops.

(I'm half joking about the sweat shop thing but it's supposedly true that Nike convinced Iowa State to use a yellow shade as opposed to gold.)

First, ditch the white helmet option. Dark helmets are best followed by gold.
Second, ditch the "cyclone" ****** on the helmets. That's a throwback to Jim Walden days and a copy of what several of the Pac-12 teams were doing. Same for the cyclone tornado - too much reminder of the Jim Criner days.
Third, ditch the current stupid looking shoulder stripes - they don't add anything, seems like a copy of Old Miss.
Fourth, keep them clean looking (ie. Clemson, Florida, others). Some of the designs floated using metalic color shades were great. I think our athletic department should take notice.

Does everyone forget that when this uniform scheme was presented, they were presented with only white helmets? The backlash from fans who saw the uniforms in person was so strong that they went from 3 white options to the red and never looked back.

I'm all for white for our away uniforms. If we aren't going to incorporate any white into our home jerseys, the white just doesn't go with them at all. That's why the fan backlash happened. On a uniform with no white at all, the white helmet looks like you were too cheap to spend the money on a colored helmet and just threw some stickers on an off the shelf helmet.

Honestly, I don't really care what ISU does with the helmets or uniforms, but I know that the consensus when this scheme was presented was that the white helmets sucked.

I just don't like how people act like this is some conspiracy to keep white helmets off the field. It was the initial idea, people just hated it.

I'm so sick of this crap. A lot of our fans today don't remember those hideous McCarney uniforms, and even less have a clue who Criner even was. We have a unique and cool nickname, let's use something that actually pertains to it again.

Agreed. If we can only associate our program with successful parts of our history, we're gonna have a bad time.

Maybe we could go with the dogbone collar from the early 2000s.

The stylized cyclone looks awesome and embraces our actual mascot. We can RECLAIM is from the Criner years. It would make a GREAT alternate helmet logo.

If you take the "Iowa State" off the top of the funnel, I say it ain't Criner. It's something new.

People hated the white helmets at first because they looked like crap in the original rendition. Once we saw the photo from the equipment room, everyone freaked out. They would look great with all white uniforms.

I know our athletic department doesn't really have the money to throw around, but at this point our identity should be multiple looks anyways because we aren't exactly a recognized name brand in football. I wish we could mix it up as much as other schools do. Not as crazy as Oregon, but mix it up every few weeks. Get the old school walking Cy on the helmets on occasion. Jack Trice throwbacks. Hell- bird in a blender to commemorate the 2000 Insight Bowl. Etc.
