Looking at the history of Campbells Toledo team uniforms. Looks like they had 4 helmet colors, Blue, White, Yellow, Grey, A multitude of emblems on the helmet (2 diff UT Logos, Glass City, Player Numbers, Cancer Ribbon, American Flag Rocket, Rocket, Rocket with Toledo across it, Blue, yellow, white, Grey jerseys, with special blue/pink jerseys and black jerseys.

I would imagine we have Grey, Gold, Red, White jerseys with matching helmets for each color and we have I State logo, the new cy head logo, and possibly new walking cy. Hopefully, they throw in cyclones ****** and tornado, and I would give my left nut for cy leaning on the I from 1983.

If he did it at Toldeo, he will do it here, so I consider this case closed.

“I’ll tell you this: I’m a traditionalist in a multitude of different ways, but I really believe in the uniform piece and the excitement that can bring,” Campbell said. “I think there’s great tradition here in terms of logo and those kind of things, but I think there’s a lot of coolness that we can do to unify our fans, excite our fans and excite our own players. That’s football today. Sometimes, I know some of the staunch traditionalists, they have an issue with that and I get it. But I also get that we’re dealing with a different culture — 18-22-year-old kids. And quite honestly, even in the recruiting process, kids like to see new. Kids like to see exciting and I think that’s something that I’ve always been a huge part of and if you saw us at Toledo, we had a million different things going on, but staying within the tradition and the culture of what the tradition of Toledo football stood for.”

So refreshing. A coach who gets it
Couldn't agree more. Do the damn thing CMC!

I can't imagine ALL of these things coming true, but it will be very exciting when they announce the changes they have in mind.

Wow.... nice! Finally a coach who understands this aspect of the game. I wonder how much freedom JP will give Campbell though? I have a feeling JP will still put a stop to this. He better not. If you're going to hire an up and coming young head coach, one of the youngest in the country, then you better embrace his ideas on the best ways to attract today's youth to play at ISU.

I would love a dark grey, cardinal and super clean alternate uni. That would be insanely sharp and get some alternate helmets. Even recent goner players are thirsty for these new unis

The best thing JP can do is stay out of the way and let CMC do his thing and be the face of the football program. That includes no more comments like he's made in the past about the youth of today. Can't wait to see some of the new uni combos.

I'd love to pay tribute to the history of Ames for one game with a helmet that has the words "Focus Town" on the side.

I am not sure but I believe Nike pays for it not Iowa State so JP shouldn't care...

Don't worry; death, taxes and complaining on CF.

Toledo had under armour football uniforms. I think athletes like the under armour uniforms and they should go with Arizona state styles

1. Nike will likely always be the preferred choice. If you wonder why Maryland is considered an "Oregon wannabe" in terms of uniform design (and hideous on top of it), it's because Under Armor will always be a "Nike wannabe".

2. Arizona State isn't even Under Armor - it's Adidas.

3. Perhaps once we incorporate a pitchfork into our athletic identity, then maybe it would make sense to use Arizona State's uniforms. Or not.

Nike basically pays for Oregon's, that's why they have so many combinations. Iowa State pays for Iowa States and JP shouldn't get in the way of what the team and recruits want. If these smaller schools can do it then we should be able to do it as well. That's a lot of doing it, I guess I like doing it!:wideeyed:

I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it's not as simple as "Nike pays ISU" or "ISU pays Nike". There is a service contract between Nike and ISU. Nike is the sole service provider of uniforms, shoes, undergarments, equipment, etc, and I'm pretty sure ISU pays them for their services. It's so strict that I'm not sure the athletes can even wear competitors' gear (Adidas, UA, etc) while attending ISU. I know they certainly can't wear anything but Nike during game day.

NCAA rules don't allow these contracts to regulate what the players where in non-sporting activities. The players have to wear Nike during official activities but they also agree to provide gear as needed. So when Georges wants new shoes the school calls Nike and they are sent over.

In 2015 isu got approx 250k for football uniforms from nike. Anything above and beyond that is purchased at wholesale price. The remaining sports split another approx 210k total.

The total compensation from nike is about 450k per year. Kansas get 3.5 Million for adidas and Michigan just signed with Nike for approx 8 million per year.

You guys wonder why there is so little ISU retail Nike on the shelves? That's why. Our brand is worthless.

Edit. EiU gets 1.8 Million from Nike. And get this... Mad Fran gets 150k to wear nike. Prohm gets 10k and Hoiberg got 10k. Barf.
